Diagnostic tests

The autonomous regions have established a set of basic

competences which promote the quality of education. These
can be evaluated with the diagnostic test.
This evaluation for the fourth year of Primary Education is the
responsibility of the autonomous educational administrations,
who have proposed a diagnostic test for the cultural and
artistic competence.
The following pages contain tests that should be used as a
reference.

ART
Art is an activity that can be learned by mastering the necessary skills and
techniques. In a wider sense though, art also refers to creative talent in
musical, literary or visual contexts.
The word art comes from the latin ars, which means ability. The word
refers to activities that require specialisation, such as gardening or playing
chess.
Art allows both the people practising it and those observing it to experience
beauty, feelings or knowledge.
Most people agree that art can be expressed through music, dance, painting,
sculpture and architecture. These are called the fine arts. Nowadays, cinema
and literature are also considered art, as well as poetry, short stories, plays

THE IMPORTANCE OF WATER IN THE ALHAMBRA

Water is a fundamental element in the Muslim world since in

Arabia there are many deserts and water is scarce. It has three
basic purposes:
Water as a supply for towns: practical purpose.
Water as an element of purification: it is a gift from Allah.
Water as a decorative element: it recreates heaven on earth.
This last purpose of water is the most important when analysing
the Alhambra, because Muslims associated water with gardens.
To them, a long pond, for example, represented the axis of a
monument. They also used the reflection of monuments in water to
make them look larger.

LITERATURE, PURE BEAUTY

Literatures any written work with artistic value. It is an art form.

Literature transforms reality and provides us with an aesthetical and
pleasant emotion. It stimulates our intelligence and our feelings and
sensitivity.
Art cannot be physical. For example, if we count the words of a poem
and divide them into numbers and letters, we realise that its rhyme
(bye-bye butterfly) and its rhythm (intonation) are not really necessary
to make it enjoyable. This is why art isnt physical or scientific: we
cannot produce art using formulas.
