Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4, the latest car from the house of the bull, is a master
piece. Billed at $237,000 and upwards (add-ons) for a car that fits two, has a top speed of 202
miles per hour and that can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.2 seconds, the Huracan is
magnificent super car that will delight its fan all over the world.
Since its launch at the Geneva Motor Show previously this year, the Huracan has
managed to receive 1,500 pre-orders so far (Telegraph). It might not be the biggest number that
Lamborghini has had before but it definitely makes a strong case for the maker of supercars that
sold a total of 2,121 units in the year ended December 2013 and 2,083 cars in the preceding year
(Berlingske Tidende). The Huracan will go on sale later this year 2014 like several of its
predecessors like the Gallardo is named after a Spanish fighting bull from the late 19th century.
And it succeeds the most successful Lamborghini model-the Gallardo which, in its 11-year life
span, sold more than 14,000 units and was retired last year. Its not surprise when president and
CEO Stephan Winkelmann says Lamborghini is "trying to write the next chapter in its great
history" with the Huracan. So even before it rolls out, the Huracan faces huge expectations
(Lamborghini Huracan is a Sight to Behold).
How much the Huracan stands up to those expectations will be clear in the next few
weeks as Lamborghini prepares itself for the rollout of this latest entry-level super car in the end
of 2014. The first look, however, is promising. On the face of it, the Huracan does look like
completely new car and not just a makeover of the Gallardo given the competition in the segment

that also has the Ferrari 458 and the McLaren 12C, nothing less would do. For one, the car looks
sleeker than any previous Lamborghinis. It is softer on the eyes with flowing contours compared
with sharp edges of the Gallardo.
The biggest design change though is the new chassis, which pundits are saying will be
shared with the next Audi R8: Made of a combination of hybrid carbon fiber and aluminum,
Lamborghini claims the new chassis makes the car almost 10% lighter than the Gallardo and
around 50% stiffer. Behind the wheels, or inside the cockpit if you will, the car is all
Lamborghini. The biggest improvement here is the new seven-speed double-clutch transmission.
The older Gallardo had a robotized manual clutch that looked clunky in comparison. The
Huracan also offers more space and better visibility to its passenger compared with the Gallardo
(The Bull Run Continues). The Huracan LP 610-4 is powered by a 610-horsepower 5.2-litre
naturally aspirated V10 engine. It produces a power output of 448 kW/610 hp at 8,250 rpm and a
maximum torque of 560 Nm at 6,500 rpm.
Company executives are touting the Huracan, which will be produced at the Automobili
Lamborghini headquarters in Sant'Agata Bolognese in 17 colors, to be a daily car. The electromechanical steering, the dual clutch and three driving options to choose from-Strata (street
conditions), sports and corsa (racing)-helps it become a car of a more regular use, according to
Pavan Shetty, India head, Lamborghini. The Huracan is an outcome of four-five years of research
and development and stringent testing, says Shetty, adding that the car, after development, has
been tested for 310,686 miles across different locations and climatic conditions worldwide.
"With its built quality and tested technology we are sure of its success," he says. Can the
Huracan handle the heat? The Market in which the Gallardo has been competing has changed out
sigh over the 10 years of its life.

For the Huracan, expectations on every front performance, Gallardo would have to do
without the low-range torque that only forced induction can supply, but its disappointing to see
that, despite some structural carbon fiber, the Hurancan heavier than Gallardo. The only
certainty, with the likes of new Porsche 911 Turbo S around, is that Lamborghini will need more
than just big hitting acceleration figures to see this car. It can always fall back on its brand and
ever more audacious styling to attract its clientele, of course, but Lamborghini makes revealing
claims about innovate technology packages. Excellent quality and easy to-drive. The company
probably plans not to get mixed up in the current one-upmanship going on between Maranello
and Woking. But if the Huracan lives as long as the Gallardo 2004-2014.
The Huracans talents are more than skin-deep. Comments the R&D chief with a wide
grin: For the sign-off drive with the Audi board of directors, the car had to master a bend on the
proving ground at almost 200mph. Early on in the gestation process, it didnt. But after we
increased the downforce by 50%. Normally, it takes an empty autobahn to explore such extreme
velocities, but the fast and twisty road from Marbella to Ronda is not a bad substitute, so we
leave the hotel at the crack of dawn to unleash the beast just one more time. While the 5.2-litre
V10 beams us effortlessly past slower traffic c, four-wheel drive redistributes torque corner by
corner with surgical precision, the variable-rate steering keeps carving out the most pragmatic
flight path, the fearless suspension.
Successfully deals with deep craters and sharp ridges, and the energetic brakes reel us in
from the brink time and time again. The Huracan feels unstoppable somewhat surprisingly, the
Gallardo replacement is not only a sharper and faster driving machine, but also a more compliant
and accessible sport car. Even more so than the Aventrador, it is two cars in one. The soundtrack
will silence the busiest street cafes, its extrovert stature is a magnet for smartphone junkies, its

presence in the rear-view mirror has a hot-knife-through-butter effect. But when you look behind
the glamorous faade, you will find raw talent, real ability and rare composure.
