The EU have a weak economy compared to their neighbors of Western Europe, due to the
communist years.
Old members fear that new nations will weaken their economy overall.
Some Europeans worry about the changing religious demographic of the EU.
Some Europeans also are concerned that if the EU changes too much quickly, it will be
less stable.

weapons.
