The 5 Senses

This week we are learning:

Circle Time Review
In circle time we will review the different
body parts in order to interlink with the 5
senses project in activity time. We can also
discuss classroom objects and colours by
asking What can you see?/What can you
hear? Students will be encouraged to
respond to questioning in full sentences and
to use the new vocabulary that we have
been learning to make their sentences more
complex.

Activity Time
.Complete the 5 senses booklet Prathom science preparation work.
Sensory apparatus worksheet students have to label the different parts of the
body that we sense with.
Audio activities explain the difference between loud and quiet using music.
Tactile activities testing out surfaces to identify if they are rough, soft,
smooth..etc.
Last week was a short one due to Father's Day, so we will continue with similar
activities to help the students get a good grasp of the 5 senses topic. I will
expand the students vocabulary to express what they can sense in their
environment, and encourage them to discuss these things in full sentences. We
can make observations about what is going on in the classroom and the school.
At the same time, the students will be completing a written booklet to ensure that
they understand the vocabulary and grammar structures fully. There will also be
a spelling test on key vocabulary words at the end of this week.

P1 Preparation

Phonics
This week in phonics we are going to
review the sounds from last week (st
and ft) to make sure the class
remember them. Then I am going to
introduce 3 new end sounds. These
are mp (lamp, stump, hump, pump,
jump, stamp, plump), sk (desk, tusk)
and lt (belt, met, kilt, quilt). We are
going to practice building up the
blends and making them into words
on the board. Then we will play
several games to get used to the new
material before we complete some
exercises in the Pelangi 3 Activity
book.

New (letters/sounds/vocabulary)
Sense, touch, taste, smell, hear, see
Mouth, tongue, hands, ears, eyes
Sweet, salty, sour, bitter
Soft, rough, hard
Loud, quiet

Maths

This week in Maths we will

review ordering numbers and
using the <, > and = symbols to
compare numbers. We are
going to play a game where
students will race to write
down and solve equations
shouted out by the teacher. We
are then going to finish doing
the related exercises in our P1
prep books and we will do
some addition sums that I will
put onto the board.
