About Arc Gateway


People with developmental disabilities accomplish great things everyday. They are our friends,
neighbors and coworkers; and they enrich our
lives and our community in man ways.
For more than 57 years, Arc Gateway has been
providing programs that help people realize their
dreams. With the help of our members, supporters and volunteers, we are able to sustain our existing services and explore innovative new ways
to help children and adults with developmental
disabilities reach their full potential.

Programs & Services


Arc Gateway offers a wide array of services for children and adults with developmental disabilities, as well as support for their families.
Through the following programs, we provide support that begins at birth and continues through retirement.
The Pearl Nelson Center provides speech, occupational and physical therapy by experienced pediatric therapists as well as developmental
instruction by infant toddler developmental specialists.
The Pollak Training Center ( PTC) provides services that focus on helping adults with developmental disabilities reach their full potential,
whether it is in the community or the classroom. PTC offers:
-Low participant-to-staff ratios to address the needs of adults with disabilities.
-Job-skill training through sub-contract work opportunities and a plant nursery program.
-Community inclusion and leisure activities, basic education classes, computer enhanced learning and self-help training.
-Art programs to discover hidden talents.

How to begin
Recieving Services?

In order to receive services from arc Gateway, you must have a refer ral from a state agency that sponsors and funds the service.
Referrals may be provided by:

Early Steps
The Agency for Persons with Disabilities
The Department of Education
The Department of Vocational Rehabilitation
The Escambia County School District

Arc Gateways Employment Services program provides one-on-one voational training and helps people with physical and/or developmental
challenges find jobs with local businesses. This creates a unique win-win situation. Employers are able to tap into a pool of reliable, qualified
job applicants, and people with disabilites gain independence by working in the community and earning their own income.
The Senior Adult Program at the Bayview Senior Citizens Center provides seniors with an active, rewarding retirement. Participants engage
in activites such as music, arts and crafts, exercise and commuinty outings.
Supported Living coaches provide training and assistance to adults with developmetal challeges who live in their own homes or appartments.
The coaching staff helps with household chores, cooking meals, shopping and handling personal finances and teaches social and adaptive
skills that are applicable to independent living. Coaching services are tailored to the unique needs of each person served.
Through Group Homes, adults with disabilites live together in the community. Arc Gateway staff creates a nuturing home envirmonment.
They build supportive relationships, provide supervison and encourange the people they serve to become indepedent and involved in the
community.
Having FUN with friends is an important part of life! Thats why a committee of adults with developmental disabilites organize monthly
recreational activities and get out in the community!
