Course Objectives

A. Use of Critical Thinking:

Understand and apply legal concepts that influence the lives and decisions of
individuals and businesses on a day-to-day basis. The course will concentrate on the following
areas:

B. Understanding Ethical Considerations Involved in Legal Issues:


Understanding the ethical issues involving legal topics that confront both
individuals and businesses on a day-to day basis.

By class participation and discussion, communications skills will be improved.

General Information

1. Required Material

Clarkson/Miller/Jentz/Cross, West's Business Law, West Publishing Company, 9th


Edition.

For each test the student will need a Scantron Form No. 882-E and a No. 2 pencil.
Scantron Form No. 882-E can be purchased at the University Bookstore or Off Campus
Books.

2. Testing Policy

Tests will begin promptly at the beginning of class 5:30 P.M. Any student who
arrives after the first student completes the test and leaves the room will not be permitted to
take the test.

There will be no makeup tests. A student may drop one test, other than the final
examination. There will be three regular tests and a comprehensive final examination. The
regular tests will comprise 60 percent of the grade and the final examination will comprise 40
percent of the final grade.

Student's are expected to be above reproach in all scholastic activities. Students


who engage in scholastic dishonesty are subject to disciplinary penalties, including the
possibility of failure in the course and dismissal from the University. "Scholastic dishonesty
includes but is not limited to cheating, plagiarism, collusion, the submission for credit of any
work or materials that are attributable in whole or in part to another person, taking an
examination for another person, any act designed to give unfair advantage to a student or the
attempt to commit such acts." Regents' Rule and Regulations, Part One, Chapter VI, Section
3, Subsection 3.2, Subdivision 3.22. Since scholastic dishonesty harms the individual, all
students and the integrity of the University, policies on scholastic dishonesty will be strictly
enforced.
