2 IRP Overview

A general system description is found in the Introduction to OSS-RC, Reference [3].

The compliance to the 3GPP specifications implemented in OSS-RC is described in
Statement of Compliance for Notification IRP Reference [5], FM, CORBA Alarm IRP
Agent Statement of Compliance, Reference [6], Basic CM IRP SoC, Reference [7],
Bulk Configuration Management IRP for WCDMA RANReference [8], Bulk CM IRP
Statement of Compliance, Reference [9], Performance Management Concepts and
Requirements (Release 6), WCDMA RAN, , Reference [10], Statement of
Compliance for SOAP Notification IRP, Reference 11 and Statement of Compliance
for SOAP Bulk CM IRP, Reference 12.
A summary of all external interfaces is found in the Summary of External Interfaces
in OSS-RC, Reference [4].
OSS-RC implements two technologies of 3GPP IRP Solution Sets: CORBA and SOAP.
There is no standard way to discover or connect to IRPs in an Agent
implementation. The method used by a manager to access the IRPs in OSS-RC is:
1. Resolve the CORBA Naming Service.
2. Use the Naming Service to locate the IRPs by looking up the names
below to find the IORs to the different IRPs.
3. Using the IORs found in Step 2, the operations defined by the target
IRPs can be invoked by the manager, for example, subscribe for
notifications, getAlarmList(), and so on.
The specific details and the names of the IRPs are listed in the following chapters.

2.1 CORBA Services

The CORBA services needed to locate the IRPs (CORBA Solution Sets) are listed
below. The services can be used once the IOR in the URL has been resolved.
The method used by a manager to access the CORBA IRPs in OSS-RC is:
1. Resolve the CORBA Naming Service.
2. Use the Naming Service to locate the IRPs by looking up the names
below to find the IORs to the different IRPs.
3. Using the IORs found in Step 2 Page 3 , the operations defined by the
target IRPs can be invoked by the manager, for example, subscribe for
notifications, getAlarmList().
The specific details and the names of the IRPs are listed in the following chapters.
Notification IPR, CORBA Solution Set, SOAP Solution Set, Bulk Configuration
Management IRP (Utran),
2.1.1

CORBA Naming Service

The URL to where the Naming Service Object reference can be found is:
http://<IP addt or hostname>:80/ior/ExternalNameService.ior

The Name Service runs on port 49254. Using the Name Service, the IRPs can be
accessed by looking up the names below to find their IOR.

2.2 SOAP Services

SOAP Services are hosted on the SUN Application Server, Glassfish.

2.3 Notification IRP

The name of the Notification IRP Agent in the CORBA naming service is:
com/ericsson/nms/cif/service/NMSNAConsumer
Alternatively, the name of the Notification Agent Portal in the CORBA naming
service is:
com/ericsson/nms/cif/service/NMSNAPortal
The CIF Notification Agent Portal is used to get a reference to a Notification IRP
implementation object. More information can be found on the CORBA Alarm IRP
Agent, Developer's Guide, Reference [14].
2.3.1

Notification IRP, CORBA Solution Set

The name of the Notification IRP Agent in the CORBA naming service is:
com/ericsson/nms/cif/service/NMSNAConsumer
Alternatively, the name of the Notification Agent Portal in the CORBA naming
service is: com/ericsson/nms/cif/service/NMSNAPortal
The CIF Notification Agent Portal is used to get a reference to a Notification IRP
implementation object.
More information can be found on the CIF Notification Agent Portal in Programmers
Guide Naming Service Agent, Reference [13].
2.3.2

Notification IRP, SOAP Solution Set

Supported SOAP Notification IRP is 8.1.0. The notifications will be pushed from
Agent (OSS-RC) to Manager.
This service can be accessed through following URI:
http://<masterserver hostname>50503/NotificationIRP/NotificationIRP
The WSDL (Web Service Description Language) can be accessed through following
URL:
http://masterserver host name>:50503/NotificationIRP/NotificationIRP?wsdl.

2.4 Alarm IRP

The name of the Alarm IRP in the CORBA naming service is:
com/ericsson/nms/fm_cirpagent/AlarmIRP

For more information on integrating a Network Management System towards the

Alarm IRP, see CORBA Alarm IRP Agent, Developers Guide, Reference [14].

2.5 Basic Configuration Management IRP

The name of the Basic CM IRP in the CORBA naming service is:
com/ericsson/nms/cif/service/BasicCMIRP

2.6 Bulk Configuration Management IRP (Utran)

The name of the Bulk CM IRP (Utran) in the CORBA naming service is:
com/ericsson/nms/umts/ranos/BulkConfigService_R1
2.6.1

Bulk Configuration Management IRP CORBA Solution Set

The name of the Bulk CM IRP (Utran) in the CORBA naming service is:
com/ericsson/nms/umts/ranos/BulkConfigService_R1
2.6.2

Bulk Configuration Management IRP SOAP Solution Set

Supported SOAP Bulk CM IRP is 8.1.0. The behavior, state machine and supported
model is the same as for CORBA Soluition Set. This service can be accessed
through following URI:
http://<masterservice host name>:50503/BulkCMIRPService/BulkCMIRP
The WSDL (Web Service Description Language) can be accessed through following
URL:
http://<masterservice host name>:50503/BulkCMIRPService/BulkCMIRP?wsdl
Refer Reference 14 for more information.

2.7 Bulk Configuration Management IRP (Geran)

The name of the Bulk CM IRP (GSM/EDGE RAN) in the CORBA naming service:
com/ericsson/nms/agents/BulkCmIRP

2.8 Performance Management IRP (Utran)

To obtain the PM IRP version
use:com/ericsson/nms/umts/ranos/PerformanceIRPOperations_R1
To use the PM IRP operations, the name of the Performance Management IRP in the
CORBA naming service is:
com/ericsson/nms/umts/ranos/PerformanceMonitoringOperations_R1
