Lets Go Green! is your campaign for success with Reading Plus.

This is a focused opportunity for educators to

push students toward silent reading proficiency. The Green in Lets Go Green! signifies students making
Expected or Significant Progress within the Reading Plus SeeReader component. Now that you have proven
that you can successfully meet the districts usage requirements, focusing on comprehension scores of 80% or
higher will ensure a successful implementation of Reading Plus at your school.
So whats the story?:

Strive for green on the Site Instructional Summary Report. View the percentage of students making
either Expected Progress (lighter green) or Significant Progress (hunter green). Students make
expected or significant progress when they consistently earn comprehension scores of 80% or higher.
Help students aim for 80% or higher comprehension on all SeeReader lessons so that they can earn
Combos (two consecutive SeeReader lessons at 80%+ comprehension) and make either Expected or
Significant progress.

Ensure that your Insufficient Use students are caught up with their SeeReader lessons. Help all students get
their work done so they can get into the green!
Quick Tips:

Students can use the Interest Filters to select the type of stories they are most interested in.
Educators should have a motivation plan with incentives in place to encourage students to achieve
80% or higher on SeeReader lessons.
Encourage students to use ReReads and go for Partial Credit when answering their SeeReader
comprehension questions (students earn partial credit when they answer a question correctly on the
second attempt).
Use the offline comprehension skill worksheets (Referene the Class Skill Group Report).
Duration:

Lets Go Green! will begin Monday February 3rd and end on Tuesday, April 1st. Schools that exemplify the
highest percentages in Expected and/or Significant Progress will be the winners of the Lets Go Green!
campaign.

The top three schools in each region will win a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize from Reading Plus.
The top class at each 1st place school will receive a grand prize and a teacher award from Reading Plus.
All schools in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place will receive recognition as well as award certificates from Reading
Plus.

How to Identify Students to Bring into the Green:

Log in to your Reading Plus account, click on the Reports tab and select the Site Instructional Summary
Report.
The percentage of green showing on the Progress graph represents students who are making Expected
or Significant progress.
Below the graphs, look for the classes with high percentages of Struggling (orange) or Responding
(yellow) studentsthese classes contain students who are not consistently earning scores of 80% or
higher on their SeeReader lessons. These are the classes that educators should target for this
campaign.
Those students already in Green should be congratulated and encouraged to to continue making
Expected or Significant progress in SeeReader.
Those students in Gray are students with Insufficient Use. These students should work to get caught
up with their SeeReader lessons so that their data can be reflected in one of the progress categories.

Get on the Bus with Reading Plus!

Created a bulletin board of a Reading Plus bus with windows. Each time a student achieves
90% or higher, the students picture is placed on the bus to award them.
This gives the student(s) recognition and demonstrates to other students that working their
best and staying on task is commended.

Airways Middle: Principal Dr. Harris, PLC Barbara Asemota and those great students at Airways Middle!

Do it in 4: Encourages students to complete their SeeReader lessons with 80% or higher the
first time in an effort to maintain a high comprehension percentage.
Get on my level: Students compete to level in to the next SeeReader level.
Teachers post students names on bulletin boards and teachers give out gift cards to top child
monthly.
Other strategies:

Utilize the Leaderboard report and create a Reading Plus bulletin board/Leaderboard using the
vocabulary and/or comprehension % by grade, group, or individually. The person or group
with the highest vocabulary and/or comp. % are announced on the intercom at the end of the
week. The student or class with the highest data at the end of the month will be announced on
the intercom by the principal and receive extra free time, candy, popcorn, pizza party etc.
ReadingPlus Check Me Teacher prints off the class assignment report weekly and students
place a checkmark on the board if they have received a check indicating they have met their
usage requirements for the week and achieved 80% on SeeReaders lesson.
