Angels from the realms of glory,

Wing your flight oer all the earth;

Ye who sang creations story

Now proclaim Messiahs birth.

Come and worship,

come and worship,

Worship Christ, the newborn King.

Shepherds, in the field abiding,

Watching oer your flocks by night,

God with man is now residing;

Yonder shines the infant light:

Come and worship,

come and worship,

Worship Christ, the newborn King.

Sages, leave your contemplations,

Brighter visions beam afar;

Seek the great Desire of nations;

Ye have seen His natal star.

Come and worship,

come and worship,

Worship Christ, the newborn King.

Saints, before the altar bending,

Watching long in hope and fear;

Suddenly the Lord, descending,

In His temple shall appear.

Come and worship,

come and worship,

Worship Christ, the newborn King.

Though an Infant now we view Him,

He will share His Fathers throne;

Gather all the nations to Him;

Every knee shall then bow down:

Come and worship,

come and worship,

Worship Christ, the newborn King.

How my happy heart rejoices

I can hear the angel voices
"Christ is born" they all are singing
From the sky this good news bringing
Let the earth rejoice
O come and lift your voices

Christ the Lord is born today

He came from heaven's throne
God is born a man today
To bring His children home
To bring His children home

Death and darkness surely tremble

Light has come to all the people
The Lion comes to crush the serpent
He comes a Lamb, a lowly servant
Let the earth rejoice
O come and lift your voices

Christ the Lord is born today

He came from heaven's throne
God is born a man today
To bring His children home
To bring His children home

God has sent His greatest treasure

Shown His love in greatest measure
Sending Christ to bleed and suer
Purchasing our joy forever
Let the earth rejoice
O come and lift your voices

Christ the Lord is born today

He came from heaven's throne
God is born a man today
To bring His children home

Christ the Lord is born today

He came from heaven's throne
God is born a man today
To bring His children home
To bring His children home

Christ the Lord Is Born Today

Gods chosen people

longed for their Deliverer.
The days were dark;
oppression filled the land.
Into this scene came Holy Word
who took on flesh,
And those with eyes
to see, said of this Man:

A Child is born,
beyond all our imaginings;
A Child is born,
fulfilling prophecy.
And by His life,
the world will see the face of God;
And by His death,
well be forgiven and set free.

The earth is tired;

creation longs to be made new,
And likewise, we
were made for more than this,
For in our hearts
lie pieces of eternity
To be awakened
soon with heavens kiss.

A Child is born
beyond our wildest hopes and dreams;
A Child is born
redeeming history,
And by His life,
the world has seen the face of God,
And by His death,
were forgiven and set free!

By His new life,

were forgiven and set free!
Set free!

Advent Reading

Gods Promise: It Will Happen

in Bethlehem

Last week we lit the second advent candle. We

were reminded of the Gods faithfulness to his
promises, and their fulfillment in Immanuel. This
week we light the third advent candle, and see
Gods promise that the Messiah would be born
in Bethlehem.

Micah 5:1-2

Now muster your troops, O daughter of troops;

siege is laid against us; with a rod they strike the
judge of Israel on the cheek. But you, O
Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be
among the clans of Judah, from you shall come
forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel,
whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient
days.

A boy named David was born in the district of

Ephrathah in Bethlehem and grew up tending
his father Jesses sheep. When the time came
for Samuel to anoint a new king over Israel, God
sent him to Jesses house to anoint one of his
sons. The unlikely ruler would be David. He
would become the greatest king of Israel, and
Bethlehem is now known as the City of David.

Long after Davids reign, Micah foretold that

God would again choose a king from
Bethlehem, in the land of Ephrathah. Many
years would pass before wise men from the East
followed a star in search of the newborn king of
the Jews. After meeting with these men, King
Herod called for the scribes and chief priests
and asked them what they knew. These
religious leaders directed Herods attention to
Micahs prophecy, and to Bethlehem.

Gods promise was fulfilled, as a ruler would

again come from this insignificant town and
once again Gods choice involved the most
unlikely beginninga baby, born in a stable.

The Son of God came down

and laid aside His crown

Born without great renown,

this Sovereign One

All holiness and might,

all glory shining bright

Have come to earth this night

in Marys son

O come, let us adore

O Christ the Lord,

our hope and Savior

Son of God yet made like us

O Christ the Lord,

our King adored

Born a child, our Lord Jesus

Messiah born so small,

asleep in cattle stall

Come to redeem our fall,

nailed to a tree

This tiny, helpless child

through death would reconcile

The holy God and vile,

His grace so free

O come, let us adore

O Christ the Lord,

our hope and Savior

Son of God yet made like us

O Christ the Lord,

our King adored

Born a child, our Lord

O Christ the Lord,

our hope and Savior

Son of God yet made like us

O Christ the Lord,

our King adored

Born a child, our Lord Jesus

The Son of God Came Down

What Child is this Who, laid to rest

On Marys lap is sleeping?

Whom angels greet

with anthems sweet

While shepherds watch are keeping?

This, this is Christ the King

Whom shepherds guard

and angels sing

Haste, haste, to bring Him laud

The Babe, the Son of Mary

Why lies He in such mean estate

Where ox and lamb are feeding?

Good Christian, fear, for sinners here

The silent Word is pleading

Nails, spear shall pierce Him through

The cross be borne for me, for you

Hail, hail the Word made flesh

The Babe, the Son of Mary

So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh

Come peasant, king to own Him

The King of kings salvation brings

Let loving hearts enthrone Him

Raise, raise a song on high

The virgin sings her lullaby

Joy, joy for Christ is born

The Babe, the Son of Mary

What Child Is This?

All the earth rejoice

Your Creator reigns

As the only awesome God

The Alpha and the Omega

Who was, is, and is to come

Let the oceans roar

and the mountains sing

He provides for all He has made

So be comforted

as He rules with grace

Rejoice, all the earth, rejoice

All the world rejoice

For the baby comes

As a humble prince in the night

The Word made flesh, Emmanuel

The Everlasting Light

Let the warmth of heaven

reach the coldest heart

With the gospel of His grace

For His heel will bruise

the serpents head

Rejoice, all the world, rejoice

All the church rejoice

For your King returns

On a white horse wearing a crown

He will break the sky

with the angels shout

Descending from the clouds

Then the dead will rise

from the land and sea

All His people will ascend

We will reign with Him for eternity

Rejoice, all the church, rejoice

Then the dead will rise

from the land and sea

All His people will ascend

We will reign with Him for eternity

Rejoice, all the church, rejoice

Rejoice

And she gave birth to her firstborn son and

wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in
a manger, because there was no place for them
in the inn. And in the same region there were
shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over
their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord
appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord
shone around them, and they were filled with
great fear.

Luke 2:7-9 (ESV)

Silent night, holy night!

All is calm, all is bright

round yon virgin mother and child!

Holy Infant, so tender and mild,

sleep in heavenly peace,

sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night!

Shepherds quake at the sight;

Glories stream from heaven afar,

Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia:

Christ the Savior is born;

Christ the Savior is born!

Silent night, holy night!

Wondrous star, lend thy light;

With the angels let us sing

Alleluia to our King:

Christ the Savior is born;

Christ the Savior is born.

Silent night, holy night!

Son of God, loves pure light

Radiant beams from thy holy face,

With the dawn of redeeming grace,

Jesus, Lord, at thy birth,

Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.

Silent Night! Holy Night!

And the angel said to them, Fear not, for

behold, I bring you good news of great joy that
will be for all the people. 11For unto you is born
this day in the city of David a Savior, who is
Christ the Lord.

The first Noel

the angel did say,

Was to certain

poor shepherds
in fields as they lay;
In fields where they

lay keeping their sheep,

On a cold winters night
that was so deep.

Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel

Born is the King of Israel.

They looked up

and saw a star

Shining in the east,

beyond them far,

And to the earth

it gave great light,

And so it continued

both day and night.

Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel

Born is the King of Israel.

And by the light

of that same star

Three Wise Men came

from country far;

To seek for a King

was their intent,

And to follow the star

wherever it went.

Then let us all

with one accord

and earth of naught,
And with His blood
mankind hath bought.

O holy night,

the stars are brightly shining,

It is the night

of our dear Saviors birth.

Long lay the world

in sin and error pining,

Till He appeared

and the soul felt its worth.

A thrill of hope,

the weary world rejoices,

For yonder breaks

a new and glorious morn.

Fall on your knees,

O hear the angel voices!

O night divine,

O night when Christ was born!

Humbly He lay,

Creator come as creature,

Born on the floor

of a hay-scattered stall.

True Son of God,

yet bearing human feature,

He entered earth

to reverse Adams fall.

In towering grace,

He laid aside His glory,

And in our place,

was sacrificed for sin.

Fall on your knees!

O hear the gospel story!

O night divine,

O night when Christ was born!

Come then to Him

Who lies within the manger,

With joyful shepherds,

proclaim Him as Lord.

Let not the Promised

Son remain a stranger;

In reverent worship,

make Christ your Adored.

Eternal life is

theirs who would receive Him;

With grace and peace,

their lives He will adorn.

Fall on your knees!

Receive the Gift of heaven!

O night divine,

O night when Christ was born

O night,

O holy night when Christ was born.

earth peace among those with whom he is
pleased!

Luke 2:13-14 (ESV)

Angels we have heard on high

Sweetly singing oer the plains,
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains.

Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

Shepherds, why this jubilee?

Why your joyous strains prolong?
What the gladsome tidings be
Which inspire your heavnly song?

Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

Come to Bethlehem and see

Him Whose birth the angels sing;
Come, adore on bended knee,
Christ the Lord, the newborn King.

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth;

break forth into joyous song and sing praises!
Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, with the
lyre and the sound of melody! With trumpets
and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise
before the King, the Lord!

Psalm 98:4-6 (ESV)

Joy to the world;

the Lord is come;

Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart

prepare him room,

And heav'n and nature sing.

And heav'n and nature sing.

And heav'n, and heavn

and nature sing.

Joy to the world,

the Savior reigns,

Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods,

rocks, hills, and plains,

Repeat the sounding joy.

Repeat the sounding joy.

Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.

No more let sin

and sorrow grow,

Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make

his blessings flow

Far as the curse is found.

Far as the curse is found.

Far as, far as the curse is found.

He rules the world

with truth and grace,

And makes the nations prove
The glories of his righteousness,
And wonders of his love.

And wonders of his love.

And wonders,

wonders of his love.

Joy to the World!

When the angels went away from them into

heaven, the shepherds said to one another, Let
us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that
has happened, which the Lord has made known
to us. And they went with haste and found
Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a
manger. And when they saw it, they made
known the saying that had been told them
concerning this child. And all who heard it
wondered at what the shepherds told them.

Luke 2:15-18 (ESV)

While shepherds kept their watching

Oer silent flocks by night,

Behold, throughout the heavens

There shown a holy light

Go tell it on the mountain

Over the hills and everywhere!

Go tell it on the mountain

That Jesus Christ is born!

The shepherds feared and trembled

When, lo, above the earth

Rang out the angel chorus
That hailed our Saviors birth

Go tell it on the mountain

Over the hills and everywhere!

Go tell it on the mountain

That Jesus Christ is born!

Down in a lowly manger

Our humble Christ was born

And God sent us salvation

That blessed Christmas morn

Go tell it on the mountain

Over the hills and everywhere!

Go tell it on the mountain

That Jesus Christ is

Go tell it on the mountain

Over the hills and everywhere!

Go tell it on the mountain

That Jesus Christ is born!

Go Tell It On the Mountain
