Good morning to Miss Leeza and to my fellow friends, my name is Michelle.

Have you ever been

scolded by your mum for trying to ask for permission for your getaway trip with your friends? I
believe most of our mums will normally reply: aiya, dont waste money la! But my question to you
today is that do you find travelling very expensive? In my presentation today, I'm going to
recommend a place for you to visit during your upcoming semester break. Im going to inform about
the mode of transportation, food to eat, and possible accommodation in Melaka. Before I further on, I
would like to distribute this travel guide prepared by me which I think is useful to people who prefer
backpacking. I went to Melaka in a group of 4. Heres a summary of what I have seen, ate and done
for the entire trip according to the timeline with photos included. I hope this will be useful for your
Melaka trip especially on the eating and visiting part albeit the very brief descriptions. First of all,
talking about the mode of transportation to Melaka. How did we actually got to Melaka? We've
chosen to travel there by express bus at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan. One thing about this mode of
transportation is that it is very safe, convenient and cheap. It only costs us RM9 for a single way
travel to the city centre at Melaka Raya. Later on, we boarded taxi to get to Jonker Street. This costs
us 20 ringgit in total for 4 person and be further divided. Melaka heritage site covers a very small
area with estimation of about 2km for the whole site. And most of the famous tourist attractions are
situated around Jonker Street. These places are easily accessible and therefore we decided to rent
a bicycle to move around instead of walking to save our time. First day upon your arrival, you can
opt to spend your whole day in Jonker Street by foot. And for the other days I would personally
suggest that you rent a bicycle at 10 ringgit a day to move around to further places. Next, the musttry food in Malacca will be chicken rice ball, satay celup, cendol, and durian puff. Chung Hua Coffee
Shop is one of the main shops serving traditional Hainan Chicken Rice. The price is around RM10
per person. Soft chicken rice balls are cooked by using chicken soup which is perfect in texture! You
can just eat the yummy rice ball by itself. And as for tea time, you can try out durian puffs and cendol
which is perfect when you are under the big hot sun! Both foods can be found at jonker street. As its
name, one bite durian puff means you are recommended to finish it by one bite, or else, the fresh
durian puree and cream will leak all over your cloth. Dont repeat the same mistake as me, hahah!!
The fresh and creamy puff is best consumed when it is served straight away from the fridge. A puff is
cost 2 ringgit each. Then, you can have a bowl of icy cold famous cendol from the shop Jonker 88
for 3 ringgit each. Whenever one come to Malacca, how can one ever miss the #foreverfamous
Satay Celup in the to-eat-list. It's something similar to steamboat or lok-lok. What makes it so unique
is the pot of hot boiling peanut sauce that you dip your skewers into. The famous Capitol satay celup
is just 5 minutes walking distance from jonker street. One advice from me, you should reach there by
6pm and start queing up. To me, despite the long queue everyday, but it is worth waiting. Dont let
the outlook of the restaurant scare you away as it is an old restaurant. After refilling the pot of peanut
sauce by the workers; stir it well, dip ur skewer into the hot pot of satay sauce and enjoy! The satay
sauce is really thick, sweet and aromatic and the taste is really unforgettable. And guess what, the
skewers only cost us 90 cents each!!You should try all of the foods above when u visit to Melaka. As
I have mentioned previously, Melaka heritage site covers a small area. Almost every place in the site
can be covered by foot. So, getting a place which is closer to the heritage site to stay for a few nights
is very important. Getting somewhere nearby, somewhere that we can reach the site by foot, is really
important for tourists like us, in Melaka. Kawan-kawan guesthouse, which is located in Melaka
Central is strongly recommended by me because it is just a few steps away from the famous Jonker
Street. So its much more convenient for teenagers or backpackers to enjoy their shopping at jonker
till late night. Besides, this guesthouse also provides free Wi-Fi service. Tenants can check in from
2pm onwards and check out before 12pm. And the reasons why I strongly recommend this
guesthouse? Its because the guesthouse is provided with refrigerator, water filter, microwave and
shower cream, which makes u feel like u are at home. And most importantly, we are given the main
gate key when we check in. So that we can go back to the guesthouse whenever we want and

there's no curfew. The guesthouse's rate for 3days and 2 nights is about 70 per person in total if you
share among with your friends. You can also have your meal at their living room which is equipped
with dining table. Furthermore, its strategic location has brings so much convenience for us, for
example, there is a mini market and a bicycle rental shop beside the guesthouse. In conclusion, we
have spent a total of 38 ringgit on transportation, around 80 on meals and 70 for accommodation,
which is less than 200. I believe that travel also can be made fun even we have our own budgets.
