Logos
a. Description:

This was a project that taught us how to think deeply and creatively
about how to create logos. We needed to create three different designs and
see which one was the favorite to the people.
b.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills):

We were using Adobe Illustrator to make these different logos. I had
to learn how to make different shapes with different tools. Along with that,
I had to know how to make different curves and lines with the tools. Also,
something that is very important when creating logos is to keep it simple.
You want to have something that is very creative but that is very easy to recognize and remember.
c. Message:

I am trying to get people to understand that at Powells Jewelers, we
sell good, quality diamonds. I tried to make the logos look professional.
d. Audience:

My audience is young people within the age groups of about 20-35.
e.
Top Thing Learned:

I learned a lot about how to create a good logo. Creating a good,
quality logo takes time.

Montage
a. Description:

This was a project that I did to learn how to use Photoshop a little
better and how to make montages. I learned how to combine more than one
picture and make the pixels blend together so the picture flows.
b.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, Steps taken while designing):

In Photoshop, I used a mask on the picture of the team so that I could
combine it with the picture of the ball. To actually blend the pixels together
of the 2 images, I used the brush tool to lightly brush away the sharp edges. I tried to focus on putting good contrast in the design. I tried to make the
words stick out by making them white on a black background. I also tried to
make the words stick out by making them different fonts and sizes. Overall, I
tried to make it have a good flow so that everything blended well together.
c. Message:

I wanted the audience to feel that boost to never give up no matter
how hard life may get. We need to have the heart of a champion and fight
until the end.
d. Audience:

I am actually trying to reach out to a pretty broad audience with this
design. I think the message can be applicable to everyone; whether it be a
child who is struggling in school or with bullies, or an adult that struggles with
weaknesses and the struggles of raising a family and providing for them.
Never give up can be applied in many different circumstances.
e.
Top Thing Learned:

I have learned a lot more about how Photoshop works. It is a good
tool to use to reach out to an audience. There are so many things that you
can do in Photoshop.
f.
Filter / Colorization used and where it was applied:

I used a mask on the picture of the team so that I could combine it
with the picture of the basketball.
g.
Color scheme and color names:

My color scheme was a mix of orange and red and then combining it
with a black and white contrast.

Letterhead
a. Description:

This design was for a project that was teaching us how to make business cards and letterheads.
b.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills):

I had to learn a little more how to use Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. First I had to come up with another logo and create it in Illustrator. Then
I put those logos into a business card format. I tried to make a good color
scheme. Then, I tried to keep some repetition in the letterhead by having the
colored bars on the top and the bottom of the page. Also, I made a watermark out of my logo and put it in the background of my letterhead.
c. Message:

I wanted my card and letterhead to look as professional as possible
yet inviting so people would want to do business with me.
d. Audience:

My audience is young people between the ages of 18-35.
e.
Top Thing Learned:

I learned that a business card and a nice letterhead can show how
professional a company is. They can also help draw in customers.

Imaging
a. Description:

This is a project that I did to practice Photodesign. This is a very effective thing to know about because it is very helpful when you need to create
an advertisement.
b.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills):

For this project, we had to start off by taking our own photo. We then
learned how to use photoshop to enhance the picture. I made my picture
look a little brighter to bring out the fall colors. Then I thought of a color
scheme for the design so that the colors of my design would go well with the
colors of the picture. And finally, I organized everything around so it would be
more appealing.
c. Message:

In this design, I am trying to get people to look for the beauty in the
world and not focus so much on the hard, dark things of the world.
d. Audience:

I think that my audience would be people from ages 16-70. It is a pretty broad range.
e.
Top Thing Learned:

I learned that anything is possible on Photoshop. You truly can do
anything but you need a lot of practice to get the hang of it. If I continue
to get more practice with it, I will be able to create some very professional
things.

Flier
a. Description:

This project was to help us know how to design things in Microsoft
Word. This is a very important skill to have knowing that most companies
and businesses will have Microsoft Word and we will have to understand
how to navigate it.
b.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills):

The process consisted of scanning a picture from a magazine and
learning how to put it into a document and make it look good and not pixelated. After scanning the picture, the designing began in the Word document. In
the design, I tried to have a good color contrast and really make the design
appealing. I also tried to have a little bit of repetition with the blue blocks on
the side. And I tried to not make things look too crowded. I didnt want the
reader to have way too many things to look at and take in.
c. Message:

The message is that people can donate to the cause of young, struggling married couples who are still studying.
d. Audience:

This flier is directed more towards people that have already raised
their families and know what it is like to go through college and be married
and possibly have children at the same time. They would understand that
those young couples may need some help from outside sources.
e.
Color scheme and color names:

I tried to use a good combination of colors. The blue blocks on the
side and the blue and white lettering contrast with the logo (red and yellow)
and with the girls outfit in the picture (dark purple and white).
f.
Top Thing Learned:

The top thing that I learned from this project was how to reach out to
an audience. I learned how important and powerful a good color scheme can
be in a flier. I still dont consider myself to be a very good designer but I am
learning more about how to get a certain message across.

Event Ad
1. Description:

This is a flier about the Graduate Leadership Conference.
2. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills):

I used Adobe InDesign to design this flier. I did a few sketches first
and then started designing on the computer. Then I got it Critiqued and fixed
a few things. I tried to do a lot with the alignment of the design. I also tried to
focus a lot on the repetition.
3. Message:

This talks about seminars that will be taking place to help graduating
seniors to get a competitive edge in business.
4. Audience:

This is reaching out to college seniors that are looking for a competitive edge in business.
5. Top Thing Learned:

I learned a lot more about some of the tools on InDesign. It is a difficult program to learn but once you get the hang of it a little, you can really
create a lot of cool things.
