Montage
Description:
An Inspirational montage that was created using two different
images blended together and typography.
Date:
October 25, 2014
Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Visual Media
Cory Kerr
Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Photoshop
Objectives:
Learn how to use Photoshop and apply different levels as well
as blend images. Apply typography and follow general
typography rules.
Process:
I began looking for images to use and then cropped the images
down to a standard 8x11 size. I placed the melted gold as the
back image then added the layer of the gold nuggets on top of
that. I blended part of the background photo with a black layer
to remove some of the image. I then blended the gold nugget
image. I placed some typography onto the nuggets and created
a drop shadow to the text for better legibility.

Brochure
Description:
Two sided folding brochure.
Date:
December 6, 2014
Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Visual Media
Cory Kerr
Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe InDesign
Objectives:
Create a two sided folding document. Use paragraph styles in
InDesign.
Process:
I used a trifold because that is the most common and I felt
that it would work well for this. I wanted there to be a happy
feeling with this as much as possible which is why I left white
space and then used bright general colors that were also found
in the pictures. In the paragraphs I changed the line spacing
making it more readable.

Imaging
Description:
A personal taken photo that is then edited in Photoshop
Date:
October 18, 2014
Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Visual Media
Cory Kerr
Program(s)/Tools:
Cannon PowerShot Camera
Adobe Photoshop
Objectives:
Learn to use a digital camera and be able to take a good
quality image. Edit the image and adjust the brightness,
contrast, hue as well as the saturation levels. Apply a color
scheme
Process:
This picture was taken by me using a Canon Powershot camera.
I then loaded and edited the picture in Photoshop. I edited out
what I needed as well as adjusting the colors in the image. I did
this so that the image looked as if it was taken with a more
professional camera rather than a entry level camera.

Letterhead
Description:
Create a logo with matching letter head and business card.
Date:
November 8, 2014
Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Visual Media
Cory Kerr
Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe InDesign
Objectives:
Create a logo for a company and design a professional
letterhead to be used. Make the logo and business card
match in design.
Process:
I first created the logo in inDesign. I then inserted the dotted
line at the top and the bottom of the document. I placed the
contact information at the bottom of the page just below the
dotted line. The reasons for the dotted lines was to create a
specific area for the text of the message to go in.

Business Cards
Description:
Create a logo with matching letter head and business card.
Date:
October 25, 2014
Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Visual Media
Cory Kerr
Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe InDesign
Objectives:
Have a well designed business card that demonstrates what
the company does as well as give the necessary business
information and contact information.
Process:
I created the logo and then sized it down so that it would fit
on the card how I wanted it to. I decided on the color grey to
set the card apart from the majority of business cards that
have just a white back ground. I also did that because it helped
to draw attention to the logo in efforts to make the logo a
more recognized logo. I placed the contact information in the
lower left of the card. I added the logo to the back of the card
without the words to help identify the card from both sides as
well as making the logo more recognizable.

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Visual Media
Cory Kerr
Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe InDesign
Objectives:
Use design principles and typography. Follow basic design
principles for fliers. Create a file containing the logos, pictures
in efforts to keep everything intact.
Process:
I first created the title and designed that how I wanted it to
look. I then took the image and added that followed by the
paragraph explaning the conference. The logo was placed at
the bottom and then the grey box containing the time of the
even and where it would be held and last I added the registration information at the bottom. I didnt it in this order because
I wanted the flier to have a good flow to it and keep the
individual looking at it for as long as possible.

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Visual Media
Cory Kerr
Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Illustrator
Objectives:
Create different logo for a company using basic tools in
Adobe Illustrator.
Process:
The creating of these logos took awhile. There was a lot of
editing and doodling. I used basic shapes to create all of them
and then I manipulated those shapes into the designs I wanted
them to be. I created different layers to the logos and added
color schemes. I wanted the logos to be easily recognized.

Event Ad

Create a color event ad by only using Microsoft Word. The
image is to be a scanned in image.
Date:
October 11, 2014
Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Visual Media
Cory Kerr
Program(s)/Tools:
Microsoft Word
Objectives:
Use Microsoft Word and no other program to create the ad.
Use a scanned image and create text boxes explaining the ad.
Process:
I stated by finding my image and then scanning it in and
using the colors in the image as my color scheme. The text
boxes were then created and the color boxes around them. The
fonts were changed to keep it clear and readable due to how
small the font size was. The concept of thirds was used a little
in the design process.
