documents.

Important Notes
a. In the written examinations, applicants are allowed to use only writing instruments (black
(mechanical/wooden) pencils), pencil sharpeners, erasers, and a watch or clock (with no extra functions
other than timing).No other instruments can be used under any circumstances.
b. Applicants wishing to enter the School in October must confirm their eligibilities with the Department
Administration Office before submitting their applications.

Note 1.
Examination locations will be posted on the Graduate School of Information Science and
Technology bulletin board at the ground floor of Engineering Bldg. 8 and the Department bulletin
board on the third floor of the Engineering Bldg. 2 at 10:00 a.m. on August 15(Friday).
Note 2.
Oral Examinations for applicants expecting to complete a masters course in March 2015 will
focus on the content and progress of the applicant's Masters thesis or an equivalent research
project, as well as concepts and plans for the prospective doctoral research theme, and the related
knowledge in the Mechano-Informatics field. Applicants may use handouts and a PC projector for
the presentation, and will be required to answer questions.
Note 3
Oral Examinations for applicants who have completed a masters program will simultaneously
serve as Secondary Examinations. Refer to [Note] on Secondary Examinations below.
2) Secondary Examinations
Secondary Examinations will be conducted for the passers of Primary Examinations, on the
completed masters theses or equivalent research projects.
Secondary Examinations will be scheduled in February in 2015; applicants will be notified of
details later.
[Note] Each applicant must bring a copy of ones master's thesis or an equivalent document, make a
presentation on the content of research within a specified time limit, and answer questions.
Handouts and a PC projector can be used for the presentation.
b. Winter Examinations
Primary Examinations and Secondary Examinations will be held in February, 2015 to accept a few
applicants.

(5) Applicants for the special selection as a working student must contact the Dean of the Department of
Mechano-Informatics before submitting their applications. These applicants must submit, in addition to
the standard application documents, the following three types of materials describing their research and
