QA Model of Gulf Engineering Council

Gulf Engineering Council has laid down criteria for academic institutions that are established in the
Middle East. Institutions are required to acquire and then implement different standards of quality. The
successful implementation of these standards would result in accreditation license by the gulf
engineering council.
The criteria for this accreditation are:
Criterion 1 Mission:
The mission of the institution should be clear and explicit. The mission should be understood by the
public. The nature of the institution must be published publicly. The public must know about
institutions emphasis on research, scholarship and other academic activities.
1. This institution should have a widely published mission statement. The mission statement
should be approved by its board of governors. This creates a purpose that is appropriate for any
institution of higher education. This helps an institution to give direction for its efforts.
2. The institution should define the mission fulfillment in the context of its purpose. With the help
of this definition, the institution can create academic and institutional achievements.
Criterion 2 Integrity:
The institution should operate with integrity to ensure that it fulfills its mission through different
structures and processes.
1. The structure of the institution should promote effective leadership and efficient processes.
2. The institution must uphold its integrity.
Criterion 3 Learning and Training:
The institution should provide evidence of student learning and training as said by its mission.
1. The institutions goal about student learning and training should be clearly stated each and
every one of its educational program.
2. The institution should support effective learning.
3. The institution should create and implement effective learning environment.
4. The institution should use all its resources to support student learning and training.
Criterion 4 Application of Knowledge:
1. The institution should also promote a life of learning and growth for both its faculty and
students. The institution should show that it values a life of learning.
2. The institution should demonstrate and prove that acquiring knowledge and skills are an
integral part of its academic and learning programs.

3. The institution should design and develop the curricula according to the latest requirements of
todays academic and professional life.
4. The institution should provide support to its faculty, students and staff, to ensure that they
would be able to work in a technological society.
5. The institution should also make sure that the faculty and the students apply the knowledge
responsibly.
Criterion 5 Institutional Effectiveness:
The institution should have enough resources to fulfill its mission and to improve the quality of its
educational programs.
