Choose MACHINE-GUARD for general point-of-operation guarding applications; controller

output resets automatically when the defined area is clear
Choose PERIMETER-GUARD for guarding access to work cells where it is possible to walk
through the light screen into the hazardous area; controller output latches and requires a
key reset when the defined area is clear
Each control box contains the system power supply, a plug-in microprocessor controller
module, and replaceable output relay modules
Highly visible operating status indicators on control box door; diagnostic indicators located
on the controller module identify trouble causes
All models offer selectable one-beam floating blanking which allows objects to move through
the defined area without tripping or latching the final switching devices
Some models (see chart below) have exact blanking which allows the presence of fixed
objects such as brackets or fixtures in the defined area during operation of the guarded
machine

MACHINE-GUARD and PERIMETER-GUARD Lens Shield Kits

Model MGS.. lens kits are replaceable protective covers for the lenses of MACHINE-GUARD and
PERIMETER-GUARD sensors. The shields are constructed of clear LEXAN polycarbonate, and are
supplied with corrosion-protected steel retaining clips. Shields may be installed or removed without
disturbing sensor alignment. MACHINE-GUARD and PERIMETER-GUARD sensors may also use MINISCREEN lens shield kits. See page 133 for model numbers.
Note: When shields are installed on both the emitter and receiver, excess gain is reduced by 36 percent
and maximum operating range is reduced by 20 percent.

Description
The Banner MM-TA-12B Muting Module is an accessory component of a safeguarding
system. The Module allows the machine to mute the primary safeguard by monitoring
redundant inputs (two or four) and automatically suspend the safeguarding function of a
safeguarding device during the non-hazardous portion of the machine cycle. For more
information, see the Muting Module on page 217 of the Safety Module section.
