3. Using the tips of the first four fingers of your right hand only, place
them on the top of your head and
draw them down to your hairline.
The fingers must be moist but cant
be re-wetted, if dry, Wuzu must be
restarted. (Do this only once)
Niyyah - (Intention)
Starts with standing in the direction of Qiblah (House of KaBa in Mecca), raising your hands
up to the level of your ears, with your palms facing Qiblah, state which prayer you will you do
followed by Takbir (Glorification of God) - See Below
The five compulsory daily prayers are split into Rakats (Units)
Fajr - Morning (2 Units)
Zohr - Noon (4 Units)
Asr - Afternoon (4 Units)
Mahrib - Evening (3 Units)
Ish- Night (4 Units)
You can state the intention in any language, in English you would say;
____(Number of Rakats) Units of ____(Which Prayer) Prayer for the sake of God
(E.g. 2 Units of Morning Prayer for the sake of God)

Qirah - (Connection)
Qirah involves recitation of two chapters of the Quran while standing upright with your hands by your side. The first is always
Surah Ftihah (1st chapter of Quran) followed by any other chapter, except cetain chapters which require prostration (32, 41,
53), traditionally Surah Iklhs (112) is recited.

Qirah
Ruk is first and consists of bending forward so that your palms are touching your knees
(This is done once and you return to the upright position)
Sujd is second and consists of bowing so that only seven points of your body (1x Forehead, 2x Hands, 2x Knees,
2x Toes of Feet) are in contact with the ground. It is better to use an item of natural consistency (Turbah) to place

your forehead and the ground (Stone, Earth, etc)
(This is done twice, between the two you should sit up backwards onto your heels)

Ruk
Qunut - (Supplication)
Qunut is an optional supplication that can be said in any language after the first two rakats before Ruk, you
raise your hands to chest level and bring them together, traditionally the following is recited.

O Our Lord! Give us good in this world and in the here Rab-ban tina Fid-duny hasanatan wa
after and save us from the punishment of the hell fire Fil-akhirate hasanatan wa Qinn Adhb
Tashahud & Salm are recited after Sujd while sitting back on your heels with your hands on your knees.
