Important Notice
To avoid shock or damage, do not plug in or turn the system on before completing the
installation process. <No Power-ON Maintenance>
Avoid working with the KSU during electrical storms.
Use only commercial AC Power to prevent shock or fire.
Use the power cord supplied for the KSU.
Do NOT bundle AC Power cords together, the cords may over heat.
Make sure the KSU has proper Earth Ground.
The system should be Wall-Mounting only.
A dedicated 110/240VAC circuit located within 2 meters of the KSU is required. A
separate AC outlet is necessary for each KSU.
Meeting established environmental standards maximizes the life of the system.
Be sure the site is NOT :
In direct sunlight or in hot, cold or humid places.
In dusty areas or in areas where sulfuric gases are produced.
In places where shocks or vibrations are frequent or strong.
In places where water or other fluids comes in contact with the equipment.
In areas near high-frequency machines or electric welders.
Near computers, telexes, microwaves, air conditioners, etc.
Near radio antennas (including short-wave)

Connect ETH lug to the verified Earth Ground point by using 14AWG (2.0mm) wire.

Part 2 : System Start Up & Programming

Start Up (1)
There are 2 types of Data :
'

Pre-stored into the Memory located onto 1632M KSU.


Can be upgraded from the CF (Compact Flash) Card which is inserted to
CF Slot at PZ-VM21.

Automatically be saved to the memory on 1632M KSU. Backed up by Lithium


Battery.
Can be saved to the CF Card which is inserted to CF Slot at PZ-VM21.
Can be saved to your PC by PC PRO software.

Start Up (2)
There are 2 types of startup mode :

Main software and Default data will be loaded. (System Initialization)


1. Confirm CF Slot is empty at PZ-VM21.
2. Open Sub-Cover of Main KSU, press and
hold on to S1 switch as indicated:
3. AC Power Switch ON.
4. System Power Switch ON.
5. Hold on to S1 switch for about 3-4
seconds and release it.
6. Now the Status LED (D5) starts flashing
RED.
7. Wait about 1-2 min.
8. Cold Start operation done.

1. AC Power Switch ON.
2. System Power Switch ON.
3. Wait about 1-2 min.
4. Hot Start operation done.

Accessing Programming (1)


Programming can be accessed 3 separate ways :
From Display type Desktop Terminal
Possible to set the data by following the manual.
Web Programming
Doesnt need special application because the application is built into SL1000
system. Just standard Web browser is necessary, and on-line programming is
available.
PC Programming
The special application which is provided by NEC-i should be installed on the
PC that will be used for PC PRO. Doesnt need real SL1000 system, off-line
programming is also available, and the customer data can be saved on the PC.
3 default passwords/Levels are built into the System. (IN / SA / SB)
The IN (Installer) Level has full access to all programs.
The SA / SB (System Admin) Levels have limited access.

Following number of users can enter the Programming Mode at the same time.
From Desktop Terminal : Up to 2 users
From Web PRO : Up to 4 users
From PCPRO : Up to 1 user

In case of PCPRO, only 1


user can enter the PRG
Mode at the same time.

Auto Log-Out is available in case nobody operates during pre-programmed


period on the Programming from Desktop Terminal and Web PRO. This period
is programmable by PRG20-01-12 (Default : 900 sec)

Software Upgrade (1)


New Main Software will be provided by NEC Infrontia.

1. Power off the system.


2. Store new Main Software data in your
Compact Flash Card (CF) by using PC.
3. Insert the CF Card into Memory Card
Slot on PZ-VM21.
4. Open Sub-Cover of Main KSU, press and
hold on to S1 switch as indicated:

Main Software Version Confirmation


Follow the steps stated below to check your SL1000 main software version by
using the Multi-Line Telephone.

1. On-hook condition.
2. Press Enter Key (Navigation Key).
3. Dial 821 to show the Main Software version &
Hardware Key Code.
4. Press Right Key (Navigation Key) to show the Main
Software version & MAC address.
5. Off-Hook and return to Time & Date mode.

Data Save and Shutdown

The Customer Data can be saved to CF Card.


1. Insert the CF Card to CF Slot at PZ-VM21.
2. Enter to the Programming Mode.
3. PRG 90-03. (Dial 90, 03, 01)
4. Dial 1 and press HOLD Key.
5. Wait about 1 min. (depends on the system size)
6. Display will be changed to next PRG No. after completing the saving.
7. Exit from Programming Mode.
8. Remove the CF Card.

This is example to access Web PRO via Ethernet Cable. (Direct Connection)
1. Directly connect between ETHERNET port on SL1000 CPU card and PC
by Ethernet Cross Cable.
2. TCP/IP is set to 192.168.0.1 on PC.
3. Open Browser and type http://192.168.0.10.
(This IP Address is default setting for CPU card. HOT Start is necessary if it is changed.)
