El efecto Mpemba es el nombre que se le da a un fenmeno en la congelacin del agua. Dice que en algunas circunstancias el agua caliente se congela antes que el agua
fra.

Explicacin
A pesar de que, a simple vista, este fenmeno parece atentar contra el sentido comn, cabe aclarar que funciona solamente en determinadas circunstancias. Por ejemplo, si
se mete en el congelador agua a 35 grados y agua a 5 grados, el agua a 35 grados se congela despus que el agua a
5 grados; se necesitan diferencias de temperaturas y temperaturas altas para apreciar el efecto, como por ejemplo
35 C y 80 C o 70 C y 90 C, en cuyo caso el agua ms
caliente se congelar ms rpido.
Estudios recientes realizados por el doctor L. Vinu constatan que con una diferencia de temperatura superior a 30
C el fenmeno es ms probable.
En el ao 2008 la dra. Lor, del Caborane Technology Institute, consigui determinar la ecacia del efecto entre 63
y 72 grados Celsius.
