INTRODUCTION

Did you write a general sentence about the topic?

Did you include an extra sentence to support the first?
Did you re-state the question in your own words?
Did you tell the reader your plan?

BODY

Did I include a topic sentence for each body paragraph?

Did I include support and examples for each topic sentence?
Did I use synonyms to avoid repetition? Have I used collocations well? Is there any expression I can replace with
a less common / idiomatic expression (still appropriately!!)
Have I used a mix of complex and simple sentences or just simple sentences?
Can I join two simple sentences together easily? (that is, to make a complex sentences)
Does each paragraph have a central theme based on the topic sentence, or do they have mixed themes?
Body1
o Is there a short, clear topic sentence- Are there at least 2 examples?
o Is each example about 1-2 sentences long?
o Are there linking words to connect the examples?
o Are the examples clearly linked to the topic sentence?
o Is there a summary sentence to end the paragraph?
o Does the summary sentence link to the next paragraph?
o Is the paragraph about 5-7 sentences?
Body 2
o Is there a short, clear topic sentence?
o Is there a clear progression from Body Paragraph 1 and Body Paragraph 2?
o Are there at least 2 examples?
o Is each example about 1-2 sentences long?
o Are there linking words to connect the examples?
o Are the examples clearly linked to the topic sentence?
o Is there a summary sentence to end the paragraph?
o Is the paragraph about 5-7 sentences?

CONCLUSION

Did I include a general, one-sentence summary?

Did I include a focused summary of the main points?
Did I add something new (my opinion)?

OVERALL

Did I use a variety of sentence structures, verb tenses, etc.?

Did I write enough (250 or more words)? Did I answer the question?
Is my opinion clear? Did I use proper writing format (paragraphing, indenting, etc.)?
