HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 8:00, 9:00 & 11:00A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER
Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 10-12; Matthew 4
Monday, January 5
1 Tim. 2:1,3-4 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For this is good and acceptable in the
sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved,
Eternal Lord and Savior:
You save sinners in answer to prayer. The ordained mechanism for
salvation is prayer and preaching the word. Was anybody ever saved for
whom someone else did not pray? I pray for _________ and _________ today.
How can I neglect prayer? If I have not the Spirit of Christ I am none of his
(Rom. 8:9). And what is the Spirit of Christ? Did he look on Jerusalem and say,
This city is predestined to be destroyed, and then calmly go his way? No. He
saw things by foreknowledge because he was God, but the doctrine of
predestination never chilled his heart or his prayer. He wept over lost Jerusalem.
Sometimes I feel like my prayer is unimportant because of my own hearts
barrenness. Really thats no excuse, just an aggravation of the sin of
prayerlessness. If I feel like I cant pray, I ought to pray twice as hard. I ought to
pray until I can pray, and then keep praying until Ive prayed!
I should pray more because I owe so much to prayer. Since those who were
in Christ before me prayed for me, shouldnt I pray for others? Prayer is the
passing of the baton of faith. Regeneration is solely the work of your Spirit. So
the natural result is that since I am regenerated I should pray for the Holy Spirit
to regenerate others. If it is entirely your work, and I cannot even depend on the
preacher, I need to invoke your power. If I do not ask for divine energy on this
Sundays services, where are my senses? Have I lost them?
When I cant sleep, then I will keep the night watch. We sustain great
losses when Christians cease to pray. I will fill that gap today. Amen!
A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING
Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 19-21; Matthew 6
Thursday, January 8
2 Samuel 5:9-10 So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And
David built round about from Millo and inward. And David went on, and grew great, and the
Lord God of hosts was with him.

COME, Holy Spirit, heavenly Dove, with all Thy quickning powers;
Kindle a flame of sacred love in these cold hearts of ours.
Look how we grovel here below, fond of these trifling toys;
Our souls can neither fly nor go to reach eternal joys.
In vain we tune our formal songs, in vain we strive to rise;
Hosannas languish on our tongues, and our devotion dies.
Dear Lord! and shall we ever live at this poor dying rate?
Our love so faint, so cold to Thee, and Thine to us so great!
Come, Holy Spirit, heavenly Dove,
With all Thy quickning powers;
Come, shed abroad the Saviors love
And that shall kindle ours.
Isaac Watts, 1707

TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS MIRACLES

Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 13-15; Matthew 5:1-24
Tuesday, January 6
John 2:9-10 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and
knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast
called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good
wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good
wine until now.

WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING
Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 16-18; Matthew 5:25-48
Wednesday, January 7
Jonah 4:7 But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it
smote the gourd that it withered.

Heavenly Bridegroom and Lord:

You began your miracles at a marriage, and you invite men and women
today to a holiday feast. This age will end at a marriage supper. So then my life
can end like all good stories do: they were married and lived happily ever after.
Come Lord Jesus, even today, to celebrate the festivities of your marriage
between yourself and the church. Oh, the wine we will drink with you at that
feast! Just like at the wedding in Cana, all the joy and bliss will come from the
gifts of your own giving. Come and manifest your glory once more! You have
been a man among men; come back now to be a God among men.
In the meantime I need you to operate beyond the realm of nature in my
own life. There is a natural process by which the dew and the rain enter into the
roots, flow through the vine, and become refreshing juice in the grape. But I need
even more of a miracle than that. I need you to take the plain water of my life, in
the earthen vessel of my body, and transform it into wine, even while it is carried
to the table!
Make the lost take note of my testimony, as did the ruler of the feast when
he tasted. Use me today to help relatives and friends taste and see that the Lord is
good (Psa. 34:8), and thereby bring glory to you. Help me manifest your glory
between now and your return Lord, because I ask it in honor of your birth and
death, and on the authority of your ongoing life. Amen.

Heavenly Father, Redeemer and Friend:

In my affluent apathy I grow so careless and reliant on the worldwith so
little delight in youthat you have to wither my gourd. Help me use this
experience to bear a testimony of your faithfulness that no un-tried person can
tell. People who only fish on a lake have no stories about adventures at sea. If
you want me to have a strong testimony, then I have to sail out of sight of the
comfortable shore. I have to risk myself to the sea in a time of storm. You are
training me to be a hero. Help me recognize how that cannot be done except
through great and bitter griefs.
I have learned my weakness. Make my consciousness of it deeper and more
painful still, because until every bone in my body is broken I will not fully rely on
you. The purpose of the problem all along was just to get me to the end of
myself, because then I reach the beginning of your working.
I may have doubts about whether you will exercise grace in specific
instances, but there is no question grace freely rains on the soul that is empty. My
soul inquires after you: give us revival!
1 Cor. 1:29-31 That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in
Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and
redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
I thank you Father, because Christ is made the fullness to my emptiness,
the righteousness to my sinfulness, the life to my laziness, the deliverance to my
distress, everything to my poverty and wretchedness and wickedness. I trust in
you as I trust in him, and will yet seek revival. Amen.

FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY

Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 22-24; Matthew 7
Friday, January 9

SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS

Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 25-27; Matthew 8
Saturday, January 10

Eph. 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or
wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Psa. 40:16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy
salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

O Lamb of God!
We cry after holiness to you. You know we dont expect to be saved by it,
but we do see part of our salvation as being progressively delivered from the
corruptions of our flesh in this life. To be emancipated from the power of sin is a
great desire on our hearts. We look forward to the rapturewith one of the best
parts being how we will be made to stand faultless before your throne.
John 13:10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet,
but is clean every whit:
Lord, we have been redeemed from sin and washed from uncleanness by
your blood. Will you not now daily wash our feet by your Spirit, and cleanse our
conscience with your word, so we can be clean every whit?
Rev. 3:4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments;
and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.
Lord, let that be us! It can only happen by your Spirit through your grace.
Since this is the dispensation of grace, we ask you for your help out of our
bondage, because that is the preparation needed to live in your Eternal Purpose
this year. Even if we have lost hope, we expect your help. Though our faith has
grown weak and our love burns low Lord, renew our trust. Let us mount up as
eagles to rise above our doubts, our deadness, and our disquiet.
Grant us grace to glory in tribulation also, because whatever the trouble
in marriage or in the marketplaceit works patience, experience and hope. Grant
us beauty for ashes before the winter ends, the oil of joy for mourning, and the
garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. Do it to Jesus eternal credit. Amen.

Heavenly Lord, Redeemer, and Friend:

What riches of grace! How far the reaches of grace! In his bitterest hour
Jesus remembered the lambs of his flock. As I listen-in, what does he ask for me?
John 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you,
and that your joy might be full.
Jesus, make all who seek you happy, because they find in you what they
seek: peace through their grief. As deep as the canyon of your sorrows, that is
how high you want my joys. You groaned so I could sing. You were covered in
bloody sweat so I could be anointed with the oil of gladness.
My sins are innumerable, but so were your griefs! You had no sin, but my
own sins were laid on you (2 Cor. 5:21). You took them as yours, even though
they separated you from your Father. Oh, what would my sins have done to me
eternally if the Friend of sinners had not stooped to load them on himself?
There are many beneficial results of your passion on the cross. Another is
the promotion of your glory by all who delight in your salvation. And now, your
wish should be my joy to accomplish, and your will should be my command. I
love you with all my heart, so give me many opportunities to proclaim your
salvation this weekend.
The grand result of your atoning death is this: my consecration to the
service of heaven. That is the joy that was set before him (Heb. 12:2). The reward to
Jesus of his suffering and sacrifice is God being glorified through my life. Help
me display it more thoroughly and proclaim it more consistently as I go
throughout this day. Make me a shining light reflecting your glory, Jesus. Amen.

QUALITY CHRISTIANITY INVOLVES THREE THINGS

Keeping Christ at the center (your core relationship of worship to God)

Keeping the body of Christ a priority (your congregational relationship of
walking with us)
Basing beliefs and actions on the mind of Christ (your church relationship in
the Word)

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
