Real Life Wisdom

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit.

Wisdom is not putting them in a fruit salad.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking
information on the poaching of a four antelope south
of Hingham.
FWP Warden Andy Matakis said the antelope,
one buck, one doe, and two fawns, were shot on or
around Dec. 23 and left to waste. The poaching took
place on State land 9.5 miles south of Hingham on
Hingham Road South.
Antelope season closed nearly one and a half
months ago, Matakis said. This is just a senseless
act of killing and wasting game. There were four
antelope shot and nothing was taken from any of the
animals.
Anyone with information about the crimes
is encouraged to call Warden Matakis directly at
406-262-2407 or FWPs 24-hour wildlife tip line at
1-800-TIP-MONT (1-800-847-6668).
The 1-800-TIP-MONT program is a toll-free
number where one can report violations of fish,
wildlife or park regulations. Callers can remain
anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to
$1,000 for providing information that leads to a
conviction.

Weird New Years Eve Celebrations

The Times Square ball drop began in 1906, two years after
the blocks first New Years Eve celebration, as a response
to New York City banning the previously-used fireworks.
The ball drop inspired a number of ball drops across the
country, but also gave inspiration to notably less-venerated
imitators, such as the Crab Drop, the giant Hersheys Kiss, the
500-pound watermelon, the Possum Drop and an 80-pound
decorated cheese wedge.
The Crab Drop of Easton, Md., which will be one of
several celebrations covered live by CNN this year, features
a 6-foot-wide crab sculpture being lowered to the ground
at midnight as part of First Night Talbot, an annual familyfriendly celebration in the city.
The crab will be lowered first at 9 p.m. as a preliminary
celebration for those who will not be able to stay awake until
midnight, organizers said.
Vincennes, Ind., is home to the lowering of a 500-pound
steel-and-foam watermelon that, at midnight, releases a load
of 15 locally-grown melons to a splatform below.
Organizers said this years melon drop will be more
family-friendly than last years, which saw watermelonsmashing comedian Gallagher raise controversy with some
sexual comments about Sarah Palin, the former Republican

Thank You Valley County

Hello Valley County,
Mere words cannot express how much I have treasured my terms as
Valley County Commissioner. As I look back at the years that my family
has lived in Valley County I must admit I believe my Grandfather made
a great decision back in 1898 when he choose to make this County his
home. I consider myself very fortunate to have been able to participate
in our local government and I must admit that the decision to retire from
office was truly difficult. I will always remember the years with Valley
County and will never forget all the help and support that I have received
from friends and neighbors along the way. I feel that the way of life that
we have here is a real treasure and needs to be preserved and protected
from outside influences that would be detrimental to all of us.
I will keep on with those endeavors as long as I can and will remain
active in local happenings because I feel that is the right thing to do.
As the future is unknown we can only hope and pray that we will always have this wonderful
place to live and the folks that live here continue to enjoy the freedoms and benefits of this wonderful
community.
Thanks again. The privilege has been all mine.
Dave and Marie
