(1904 1989)
Salvador Dali (1904 1989) was a prominent Spanish Catalan surrealist whose works include painting, film and sculpture. His paintings
are fantastical renderings of worlds and images that push the limits
of the imagination. Dali was part of a revolutionary art movement
known as surrealism along with friends and fellow artists Luis
Bunuel, Federico Garcia Lorca, and Man Ray.

Much of his most well-known works are set in barren plains where
whimsical creatures play, and warped luminous figures melt from
their solid state.

It is said that one day young Salvadors mother took him to his
brothers grave and told him that he was a reincarnation of his
brother, which Dali came to believe. She was also responsible for encouraging his art habit which eventually led him to the Academia de
San Fernando in Madrid. The persona that is Dali grew during this
time where he also perfected his signature up-turned mustache
look.
