Ecoseal TPO

ECOSEAL ENVIRONMENTAL ROOFING SYSTEMS

Ecoseal - A Unique TPO

The product is a clear market leader in its field

Most widely used TPO in history

Oldest TPO roofs in N America, Europe and Asia
Excellent track record over the last 10 years
Trusted and installed on major projects worldwide
Environmentally conscious membrane - toxin and halogen free
Alternative single ply membrane to PVC

Modern building designs demand systems with proven low impact in

the environment, Ecoseal TPO Roofing Systems fulfil this criteria. There
are no harmful chemicals in the membrane which may leak out over
time, causing environmental damage. Ecoseal TPO is plasticiser and
halogen free. It can be installed using solvent free adhesives, enabling
full climate protection without environmental damage.

Climate Resistance
Ecoseal TPO resists all that the changing
world climate can muster. From the
extremes of a biting cold polar climate
capable of cracking other roofing
membranes, through to the baking effects
of prolonged exposure to the suns
ultraviolet rays. This range of
temperature exposure leaves the roofing
system membrane virtually unaffected
over time, ensuring your building
continues to benefit from a roofing
membrane that has lost none of its
physical properties.

Mechanically Attached System

Ecoseal EP Membrane
Ecovap Vapour Control Layer

Ecoseal Approved Fastener and Seam Plate

Ecoseal Welded Seam 115mm or 140mm (XHD)

Used as a means of meeting lightweight (membrane 1.2mm

thick approximately 1.2kg/m2), fast track construction
requirements, the Ecoseal TPO mechanically attached roof
may be applied to steel, timber or concrete decks. The
membrane is secured to the structural deck using Ecoseal
approved fixings and seam plates for the deck type at
attachment rates to meet local wind loading requirements,
BS 6399 Part 2 in United Kingdom and/or Factory Mutual
Global Insurance (see approved system requirements).
Membrane choices are: Ecoseal EP-FR or Ecoseal EP-FM
(Factory Mutual).

Fully Adhered System

The Ecoseal EP-Fleece membrane can be fully
adhered to a suitable substrate or approved insulation
board using either Ecoseal Fleece Bonding Adhesive
or Ecoseal Water Based Bonding Adhesive. Generally
the insulation board is mechanically attached with
Ecoseal approved fixings to the structural deck, but
may also be bonded to the substrate with suitable
insulation adhesive. The fully adhered Ecoseal EPFleece roof system provides resistance against extreme
wind loading conditions and is ideal for secure
attachment to different roof shapes, including domes
and curves. Meets local and Factory Mutual Global
requirements.

An increasing use of single ply membrane for green roofs is

common throughout Europe. Ecoseal EP-B is approved
for use in this type of circumstance where the membranes
resistance against penetrating roots, together with resistance
to microbiological attack, make it an excellent choice for
such roof design.
Ecoseal EP-B also may be used for the more traditional
method of warm ballasted applications, providing robust
protection against damage compared with other membranes.
Meets local and Factory Mutual Global code approvals.

Accessories
The Ecoseal TPO roofing membrane is complemented by a
complete range of accessory products to ensure a fully engineered
approach to all aspects of the waterproofing design. The
Ecovap vapour control layer is a reinforced PE foil, which
also comes in an FM approved version for use on specific FM
standard designs. (Refer to Trelleborg Technical Department).

Ecoseal O Profile enhances aesthetic appeal

of a project, giving an appearance similar to a
metal standing seam roof, but using a
continuous hot-air welded membrane. Using
grey or green membranes with the Ecoseal O
Profile can simulate a lead or weathered copper
roof with excellent results.

Detailing on the roof is carried out using Ecoseal colour

specific accessories. These include outlet and pipe
flashings moulded from the same TPO; adhesives and
sealants are tested and approved for use with the system;
and Ecoseal coated metal formed to the precise shape
for termination and aesthetic finishing at gutters,
parapet caps and upstands. Trelleborg supply moulded
corners, fasteners, seam and insulation plates to
complete the system engineered approach to design.

In order to further enhance the project

appearance, Ecoseal TPO roofing systems
are available in a wide range of colours.
Such variety of colour is fairly unique in
the TPO world, and on projects where the
roof is visible because of the shape or
location, coloured membranes can have a
very pleasing effect.

Technical Support
Trelleborg provide the specifier with all the
information necessary when considering the design
of a new project or the refurbishment of an existing
roof. This includes a review of all waterproofing
aspects of the project: selection of Ecoseal membrane;
vapour control layers, insulation; application method
and appropriate accessories. For ease, design
information on the EcosealTM TPO Roofing System
is available in NBS specification format.

Contractor Support
Registered Ecoseal contractors receive instruction and
assistance in the techniques required to successfully
install the Ecoseal TM TPO Roofing system by
Trelleborg technicians at the Bellshill Training
Centre.
All Ecoseal contractors are required to send operatives
to Trelleborg for training. This is a 3 day residential
course run in Bellshill. The course is grant registered
with the CITB (Approval Number ZZRS/18105)
and covers all basic elements required to achieve a
perfect installation. This is followed up by checking
that these techniques are correctly employed in the
field with regular site visits by the Trelleborg Field
Technician.

Grant Approved Course

Field Support
Field support is a vital component of the quality
programme employed by Trelleborg to ensure a
successfully installed Ecoseal TPO project.
Our objective is for a Field Technician to visit each
and every project during the installation phase in
order to assess progress, assist with any complex
detailing and record for warranty purposes any
necessary key information. This approach is designed
to be a benefit to the registered Ecoseal contractor,
ensuring that his workforce are receiving technical
support in the most crucial area - on the roof.
However, it also provides the client with the peace of
mind that all aspects of the Ecoseal TM TPO
specification are being followed by the installing
contractor.
