1.

Are Some people are Leader Type and others are not so the Leader
Type? If so what in your judgement distinguishes them? Quote
instances from the movie?
The actions or activities of the person determines the type of the person. The persons
with leader type personalities have a vision and have an ability to form the bond with
his followers and can drive them to a common goal by his thinking and skills. The
strength of the leader comes from commitment, determination and , bringing unity
in the people.
Based on the above differences the two characters who can be
differentiated from the movie:
Robert 17th earl of Bruce:
This character can be considered as not so leader type because he simply
want to earn laurels and want to be noble rather than working towards for his mens
cause. He took on wrong side under the wrong influence of his father without his
own thought.
Longshanks
Other characters like longshanks, didnt placed a rightful person after him to lead the
people. He wanted his son only to rule eventhough he is inefficient and not interested
to lead the people.
William Wallace:
William Wallaces personal characteristics are one of the defining factors of
his transformational leadership style. He motivated and drove his men towards
common goal I.e., Freedom irrespective of several obstacles . He motivated his
followers and inspired them by his words and actions.
Few instances are like:
Before war when soldiers lost their courage to fight, William gave this speech to
motivate his soldiers, fight and you may die. Run, and you'll live...at least a while.
And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willing to trade ALL
the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here
and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take...OUR
FREEDOM!.
Strategy:
Strategies for the wars that made him to stand unique
Stance 1: at the war between England and Scotland, William rejected the truce and
asked his allies to leave so that opponents see them leaving and think they were left
out and attacks with heavy cavalry. He asked them to attack at his signal from back.
Later when enemies started attacking he provoked them and made them aggressive
and when they attacked with cavalry he raises the long wooden polls took them by
surprise.

2. Does every successful leader have a valid theory of leadership? If

yes what would it be?
Yes every leader have a valid theory of leadership. The leadership theory of
William Wallace was evident in the movie:

Live and die for a cause:

William Wallace do have a cause and he fought for that and inspired and
drove his men to that cause. He died for freedom but he didnt accepted
the offering of longshanks even at his last moment instead he suffered all
the pain for that cause.
Vision: William Wallace helped his people overcome their terror of an
overpowering enemy, with the vision to achieve what was important to his
people. This vision to freedom fuelled the fire within him(leader) and
drove him towards the target.
Doer: William Wallaces influence came from the fact that he lead by
example. He demonstrated incredible courage and did not ask others to do
what he himself would not.

3. Would you consider it a great compliment for someone to call you a

good manager or a good leader? Why? Do you believe you could be
both?
I believe a person can be both a leader and a good manager. In fact one of the
qualities of a leader is good manager. People will follow a person if the person
has an ideology. If a person has followers he can be called as a leader. I believe
I can be both.
From the movie:
If you are noble people will respect you, If you lead them to the freedom
theyll follow you. . The person who has followers is a leader. People will
follow a person if the person has an ideology.
