tool SAS The field of Data Analytics is very subject in todays era. It is an effective way to monetize the data, creating new business models and transforming industries. Since, the inception of Information and communication era we have huge data waiting to be processed and converted into useful information and considerable knowledge, so that it can be used effectively in predicting future trends. After reviewing various literatures we came to know that data analytics has already pitched into sports predictive modelling. But, it is still in its nascent stage. All the research works till date in cricket predictive modelling have been done in very specific domain like outcome of Test matches, or effect of toss in the outcome, affecting outcomes of ODI due to Day and Night matches and player performances etc. Here in this research work we intend to use all the previous work done in sports analytics and try to capitalize them by using it all together. Up till yet no research work has been done to predict the tournament winner such big as Cricket World cup, triangular series etc. We will regress and analyze few more parameters like Home vs. Away matches, Day vs. Night matches, Current Team and Player rankings, Batting and Bowling averages, Captaincy, One on one and world cup performances. Using the latest analytical tools SAS it is for sure that the outcome of the research will be more reliable and provide better estimates than previous research. In our study, we will be doing it by using match information gathered from all ODI matches played by teams against each other. The model will be created which can take into account a range of variables that could independently explain statistically significant proportions of variation associated with the match outcomes. Such variables include home ground advantage, match experience, performance at the specific venue, performance against the specific opposition or at specific venue, current form, recent ranking, team balance & chemistry, toss etc. Not surprisingly, the amount by which a team outranks its opponent is a good predictor of victory, so this is the key variable upon which forecasts for individual match-ups are based. Such a method of predicting a behaviour using past historical data will open the floodgates for various other studies and hence such an approach can also be used to understand online Section A Group 4: Anurag Dwivedi, Rohan Shah, Rakshit Srivastava, Ankita Jindal, Shishir Bhaskarwar
consumer behaviour by making use of time a person spends on a particular
website. It can also be used for understanding consumer preferences by making use of transactional data which is generated via shopping cards at stores, supermarkets etc. By applying this prediction approach to a holdout sample of matches, the efficiency of the in the run wagering market could be improved and assessed.
