VARIOUS PRAYERS

PRAYER FOR PURITY

Jesus, Lover of chastity, Mary, Mother most pure, and Saint Joseph, chaste guardian of the Virgin,
to you I come at this hour, begging you to plead with God for me. I earnestly wish to be pure in
thought, word and deed in imitation of your own holy purity.
Obtain for me, then, a deep sense of modesty which will be reflected in my external conduct.
Protect my eyes, the windows of my soul, from anything that might dim the lustre of a heart that
must mirror only Christ-like purity.
And when the Bread of Angels becomes the Bread of me in my heart at Holy Communion, seal it
forever against the suggestions of sinful pleasures.
St. Joseph Pray for us, Heart of Jesus, Fount of all purity, have mercy on us.

PRAYER TO ST RAPHAEL FOR HAPPY MEETINGS

O Glorious St. Raphael, Patron and Lover of the Young, I call upon thee and plead with thee for thy
help. In all confidence I open my heart to thee, to beg thy guidance and assistance in the
important task of planning my future. Obtain for me through thy intercession the light of Gods
grace, so that I may decide wisely concerning the person who is to be my partner through life. O
Angel of Happy Meetings, lead us by the hand to find each other. May all our movements be
guided by thy light and transfigured by thy joy. As thou didst lead the young Tobias to Sara and
opened up for him a new life of happiness with her in holy marriage, lead me to such a one whom
in thine angelic wisdom thou dost judge best suited to be united with me in marriage.
St. Raphael, loving Patron of those seeking a marriage partner, help me in this supreme decision
of my life. Find for me as a helpmate in life that person whose character will reflect the traits of
Jesus and Mary. May she be upright, loyal, pure, sincere and noble, so that with united efforts and
with chaste and unselfish love, we both may strive to perfect ourselves in soul and body, as well
as the children it may please God to entrust to our care.
St. Raphael, Angel of chaste courtship, bless our friendship and our love, that sin may have no
part in it. May our mutual love bind us so closely that our future home may ever be most like the
home of the Holy Family of Nazareth. Offer thy prayers to God for both of us and obtain the
blessing of God upon our marriage, as thou wert the herald of blessing for the marriage of Tobias
and Sara.
St. Raphael, Friend of the Young, be thou my friend, for I shall always be thine. I desire ever to
invoke thee in my needs. To thy special care I entrust the decision I am to make as to my future
wife. Direct me to the person with whom I can best cooperate in doing Gods Holy Will, with whom
I can live in peace, love, and harmony in this life and attain to eternal joy in the next. Amen.

In honor of St. Raphael recite one Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory be.

STORM NOVENA

to you." Through the intercession of Mary, Your holy Mother, I knock, I seek. I ask that my prayer
be granted. (state your specific request or intention here!)

I prostrate myself before Thy Holy Image, O most gracious Infant Jesus, to offer thee my most
fervant thanks for the blessings Thou hast bestowed upon me. I shall incessantly praise Thine
ineffable mercy and confess that Thou alone art my God, my Helper and my Protector. Henceforth,
my entire confidence shall be placed in Thee! Everywhere, I shall proclaim aloud Thy mercy and
generosity, so that Thy great Love and the great deeds which Thou dost perform through this
miraculous image may be acknowledged by all. May devotion to Thy Holy Infancy increase more
and more in the hearts of all Christians, and may all who experience Thine assistance persevere
with me in showing unceasing gratitude to Thy Most Holy Infancy, to which be praise and glory
forever. Amen
Thank you, Infant Baby Jesus of Prague and the Sacred Heart of Jesus for granting my request. I
will always be dedicated to You Dear Jesus and have faith that You will always be by my side. Your
faithful servant (state your name).

PRAYER FOR STUDENTS

O Child Jesus, eternal Wisdom made flesh, who shed Your blessings so generously on all, and most
especially on schoolchildren and students who trust in You, please look kindly on me as I implore
You to guide and assist me in my studies.
You, O God made Man, Lord of all learning, source of all understanding and memory, come and
help me in my weakness. Enlighten my mind, improve my ability to acquire knowledge and truth
and the capacity to remember all I learn. Be my light, strength and comfort in moments of special
difficulty.
By the grace of Your divine Heart may I do all my school tasks to the best of my ability and gain
the utmost profit from them, so that I may get good marks and, most important of all, be moved
up next year. To merit such favours, for my part, I promise to perform faithfully all my duties as a
Christian and to love You more and more. O Sweet Child Jesus, keep me always under Your
protecting mantle and be my guide, not only on the path of learning, but above all on the path to
eternal salvation. Amen.

SUSPICE PRAYER

Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,

my memory, my understanding,
and my entire will,
All I have and call my own.
You have given all to me.
To you, Lord, I return it.
Everything is yours; do with it what you will.
Give me only your love and your grace,
that is enough for me.

A Preparation for confession

I, a sinful soul, confess to our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, all of my evil acts which I have
done, said or thought from baptism even unto this present day.
I have not kept the vows of my baptism, but have made myself unwanted before the face of God.
I have sinned before the Lord by lack of faith and by doubts concerning the Catholic Faith and the
Holy Church; by ungratefulness for all of God's great and unceasing gifts; His long-suffering and
His providence for me, a sinner; by lack of love for the Lord, as well as fear, through not fulfilling
the Holy Commandments of God and the canons and rules of the Church.
I have not preserved a love for God and for my neighbour nor have I made enough efforts,
because of laziness and lack of care, to learn the Commandments of God and the precepts of the
Holy Fathers.
I have sinned: by not praying in the morning and in the evening and in the course of the day; by
not attending the services or by coming to Church only half-heartedly, lazily and carelessly; by
conversing during the services, by not paying attention, letting my mind wander and by departure
from the Church before the dismissal and blessing.
I have sinned by judging members of the clergy.
I have sinned by not respecting the Feasts, breaking the Fasts, and by immoderation in food and
drink.
I have sinned by self-importance, disobedience, willfulness, self-righteousness, and the seeking of
approval and praise.

I have sinned by unbelief, lack of faith, doubts, despair, despondency, abusive thoughts,
blasphemy and swearing.
I have sinned by pride, a high opinion of myself, narcissism, vanity, conceit, envy, love of praise,
love of honors, and by putting on airs.
I have sinned: by judging, malicious gossip, anger, remembering of offenses done to me, hatred
and returning evil for evil; by slander, reproaches, lies, slyness, deception and hypocrisy; by
prejudices, arguments, stubbornness, and an unwillingness to give way to my neighbor; by
gloating, spitefulness, taunting, insults and mocking; by gossip, by speaking too much and by
empty speech.
I have sinned by unnecessary and excessive laughter, by reviling and dwelling upon my previous
sins, by arrogant behavior, insolence and lack of respect.
I have sinned by not keeping my physical and spiritual passions in check, by my enjoyment of
impure thoughts, licentiousness and unchastity in thoughts, words and deeds.
I have sinned by lack of endurance towards my illnesses and sorrows, a devotion to the comforts
of life and by being too attached to my parents, children, relatives and friends.
I have sinned by hardening my heart, having a weak will and by not forcing myself to do good.
I have sinned by miserliness, a love of money, the acquisition of unnecessary things and
immoderate attachment to things.
I have sinned by self-justification, a disregard for the admonitions of my conscience and failing to
confess my sins through negligence or false pride.
I have sinned many times by my Confession: belittling, justifying and keeping silent about sins.
I have sinned against the Most-holy and Life-creating Mysteries of the Body and Blood of our Lord
by coming to Holy Communion without humility or the fear of God.
I have sinned in deed, word and thought, knowingly and unknowingly, willingly and unwillingly,
thoughtfully and thoughtlessly, and it is impossible to enumerate all of my sins because of their
multitude. But I truly repent of these and all others not mentioned by me because of my
forgetfulness and I ask that they be forgiven through the abundance of the Mercy of God.

THE SERENITY PRAYER

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I
can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a
time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not

as I would have it; trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; that I may
be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen.
