Students are allowed to bring lecture notes, exercise notes, exercise solutions, course
literature and calculators to the exam.
The written exam measures goals 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the course.
In order to get grade A for the written exam, all goals must be fulfilled with grade A. The
same rule applies to grades B, C, D, E, and Fx.

The exam contains a number of questions. They are given in both English and Swedish.
The examiner is available for questions on mobile phone: 0702 169648

Question 1 (measures Goal 1)

For each of the following statements, determine whether it is true or false. Justify your
answers carefully.
1. One means can support several goals.
2. The profit of the company shall be at least 10% in 2017 is a good formulation
of an objective.
3. Goal models are only useful for the strategic level in an organization.
4. An EPC diagram primarily describes the information flow among organizational
units.
5. If an EPC diagram includes two or-splits, there must be an or-join between them.
6. If a conversion process includes an economic event with a produce stockflow, it
must include an economic event with a consume stockflow.
7. A value interface in an e3value diagram can include more in-ports than out-ports.
8. A commitment in REA can sometimes be related to only one economic agent.
9. A contract in REA can sometimes include only one commitment.
10. A business model primarily focuses on the logico-temporal ordering of business
functions.
11. If a physician books an appointment, he or she carries out an assertive speech act.
12. ERP systems are useful also for very small companies (with 0 5 employees).

Question 2 (measures Goal 2)

Read the following text from Wikipedia about Tesla Motors:
Tesla Motors, Inc. is an American company that designs, manufactures, and
sells electric cars and electric vehicle powertrain components.[4] Tesla Motors is a public
company that trades on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the symbol TSLA. [5] In the
first quarter of 2013, Tesla posted profits for the first time in its history. [6]
Tesla Motors first gained widespread attention following their production of the Tesla
Roadster, the first fully electric sports car.[7] The company's second vehicle is the Model
S, a fully electric luxury sedan, and its next two vehicles are the
Models X and 3 respectively.[8]Tesla also markets electric powertrain components,
including lithium-ion battery packs to automakers
includingDaimler and Toyota.[9] Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, has said that he envisions
Tesla as an independent automaker,[10] aimed at eventually offering electric cars at prices
affordable to the average consumer.[11][12] A vehicle under $40,000 is expected by 2017.

Tesla's strategy has been to emulate typical technological-product life cycles and initially
enter the automotive market with an expensive, high-end product targeted at affluent
buyers. As the company, its products, and consumer acceptance matured, it is moving
into larger, more competitive markets at lower price points.[61][62]

Aiming premium products at affluent "thought leaders" is a very well-known business

strategy in Silicon Valley and the global technology industry, where prices for the first
versions of, for example, cellular phones, laptop computers, and flat-screen televisions
start high but drop with subsequent products as the technology matures and production
volumes increase.[63] According to a blog post by Musk, "New technology in any field
takes a few versions to optimize before reaching the mass market, and in this case it is
competing with 150 years and trillions of dollars spent on gasoline cars." [64]
While the Roadster's base price was US$109,000,[65] the Model S's base price
was US$57,400,[22][66] and the company plans to launch a US$30,000 vehicle,
codenamed BlueStar.[67]
One of Tesla's stated goals is to increase the number and variety of electric vehicles (EV)
available to mainstream consumers by:
[68]
selling its own vehicles in company-owned showrooms and online;
[69][70]
selling powertrain components to other automakers
[71][72]
serving as a catalyst and positive example to other automakers

Construct a goal model for Tesla Motors. The model should include at least:

6 goals
6 means
One means for every leaf goal
One objective for every leaf goal
6 influencers
One influencer that is both a strength and a weakness (mark this one clearly in
your diagram)
One influencer that is both a threat and an opportunity (mark this one clearly in
your diagram)

Make sure that the three bullet points at the end of the Wikipedia text are included in
your model. You will need to make your own assumptions about Tesla Motors.

Question 3 (measures Goal 3)

You have been hired to design a new business model for Tesla Motors, see question 2.
Construct an e3value model for the value network around Tesla Motors. Include actors,
market segments, value interfaces, value ports, value exchanges, and dependency paths.
(You may make your own assumptions for solving this.)

Question 4 (measures Goal 4)

The following is a process for the security check of visitors at a nuclear plant.
First, the visitor is interviewed for ten minutes by a junior security officer. At the same
time, an inspector checks the bags that the visitor carries. The identity of the visitor is

also investigated. The visitor is then physically searched. If there is any problem, a
senior security officer will interview the visitor for ten more minutes. If the visitor wants
to visit a high security area of the plant, a second security officer will interview him or
her for 20 minutes. The first senior security officer will then decide whether the visitor is
allowed to enter the plant. If the visitor is allowed to enter the plant, she has to first fill in
a form. This form is archived by an administrator.
When the visitor is visiting a high security area, she is constantly monitored by a junior
security officer. If the visitor carries out any suspect action, the visit is immediately
terminated. At the end of the visit, the visitor is physically searched once more. There are
three possible outcomes of this search
- There is no problem and the visitor leaves the plant
- There is a minor problem and the visitor is X-rayed
- There is a major problem and the police is called
The text above is incomplete (for example, what happens after the X-raying of the
visitor?) and ambiguous. You will need to complete it by making your own assumptions
and these should be stated explicitly.
Construct an EPC diagram for the process described above.
