Music Guest: REVIVE - January 24

Special musical guests next week in The River

Come join this band from New Zealand before they perform with
Third Day at Winter Jam at Wells Fargo Arena!

It’s been said…but I say…

Today I’ll conclude our three-week focus
on milestones of Jesus’ life. We’ve looked at
His development in the formative years, His
victory over temptation and today we’ll look at
important events that launched His ministry.
On Sunday, January 24th, I’ll begin a new
three-week study looking into some of Jesus’
teachings. Our text for this study will be Matthew 5:21-48. In
this passage we’ll look at six important teachings Jesus gave
on subjects like the sanctity of life, the scope of sexual sin, the
sacredness of marriage, the sincerity of our word, the stupidity of
revenge and the sensibility of loving our fellow man.
With each of these topics, there was a traditional teaching
that was accepted as the full truth, represented by Jesus’ state-
ment “…it’s been said….” However, after stating the common
understanding, Jesus goes further by teaching the complete truth
represented by the statement “…but I say….” Our goal in this
study will be to understand the full truth on these topics and
examine our lives to ensure we are aligned with them.
Our culture is not that far removed from the culture Jesus
lived in. Like them, we have teachings and standards that Honor Flights 2009
only scratch the surface of what God demands. Jesus set the
record straight by taking us deeper into God’s requirements for Three individuals from FFC were able to travel to Washing-
