Briefing note for MPs from the Commons


Library
The House of Commons library have written a briefing
note for MPs on the main issues for people with Learning
Disabilities.

NHS England Improving Rehabilitation


Workshop
Are you the parent (or adult carer) of a child or young
person receiving rehabilitation services? If so NHS
England would like to hear from you
Rehabilitation is treatment to help the process of
recovery.
To help with this work NHS England are holding sessions
for parents and carers of children and young people who
have used rehabilitation services. They want to get some
feedback about rehabilitation services.
The workshops are on
10th February 2015, 10:30 to 14:30, Leeds
23rd February 2015, 10:30 to 14:30, London

Consultation on NICE Guidelines


The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence is
consulting on their guidelines about challenging
behaviour and learning disabilities.
The practice guidelines say how staff should work to
support people well.

Care Quality Commission (CQC) Inspection


Programme
The CQC wants to hear from people with a learning
disability and those who support them. They want to
hear about their experiences of care to help their
inspection teams.
They want to hear from learning disability partnership
boards and local groups working with people with a
learning disability.

Vacancy with Challenging Behaviour


Foundation
The Challenging Behaviour Foundation is looking for
someone to join their team to advise family carers and
make a difference to the lives of children and adults with
severe learning disabilities and autism who display
challenging behaviour.
This is a varied and rewarding role with opportunities to
get involved in interesting projects, run support networks
and develop resources.

Care 4 All survey


Care 4 All in North East Lincolnshire are working out if
people with Learning Disabilities and their families want a
short break offer in their area.
They have done a survey to find out what people might
want so they can think about what they develop based on
what people want.

Autism self assessment 2014/2015


Local areas have been asked to do the self-assessment
again to help local strategy groups to review their
progress.
This will support future planning with partners including
people with autism and their families.

Finding Common Purpose Event Yorkshire and


Humber
This is an event run by the Association of Directors of
Social Services (ADASS) with a focus on building on the
message of Finding Common Purpose on good
commissioning and partnership working in Yorkshire and
Humber.

Improving access to the arts, galleries and


museums
Lemos & Crane have been working with City Bridge Trust
to find ways of improving access to the arts, museums,
galleries for people with learning disabilities.
They asked for good practice among arts organisations,
museums and galleries to find good ways of working and
areas in which more might be done.
They looked at:
Access (including easy read signing)
Commissioning work by artists with learning
disabilities
Presenting work by artists with learning
disabilities
Education and learning opportunities

There are many examples of excellent work as well as


opportunities to do much more.
