16th January 2010
Dear parents, ‫السلم عليكم و رحمة ا و بركاته‬

Parents’ evening

As you were notified last week, there is a parents’ evening scheduled for this
Sunday, 17th January 2010. Your son’s teachers will be available to discuss his
progress between 5:30 and 8:30.

The class teacher will be in the classroom, the other subject teachers and the
Arabic staff will be elsewhere in the school. Details on where to find them
should be available on the evening.

Can I please stress that owing to the amount of parents that we need to see
during the evening that we will need to keep the meetings down a strict 5
minutes per child so that we can see everyone concerned? I thank you for your
cooperation with this and apologise in advance if you find yourself waiting in a
queue.

Midyear exams and revision

The midyear examination week will begin on Saturday the 30th January 2010.
Information on the exact dates for specific subjects will follow shortly in a
letter from the school. The examination week is testing the material that we’ve
covered since the beginning of the academic year

This week will be a regular teaching week; however the week starting 23rd
January to 27th January will be a revision week with an early finish to the day.
Details on this will follow from the school. There will be no homework during
the revision week other than to ask you revise the material covered in the
forthcoming exams.

Revision guide

We have produced a revision guide for the upcoming examination week which
details the material that will be covered in the exams and should be revised at
home. Copies of these are currently being printed and should be with you

www.g1manarat.blogspot.com
shortly. A copy has also been uploaded onto the class website in the midyear
exam section.

This week, class tests and spelling

We will have one last spelling test prior to the exams. This is on the topic of
the long ‘a’ sound and it is an important lesson to grasp so we will have
included the spelling test for it at the beginning of the revision week.

We haven’t as yet practiced grammar assessment and so we will have the end
of unit 1 test for grammar this Wednesday, insha’ Allah. This will cover
similar material to the midyear exam and so it will also help us prepare for that.
Please help your son revise the following six topics for a test on Wednesday
20th January 2010.
