The Moola Mantra of Mahaganapati

om shreem hreem kleem gloum gamganapataye vara varada sarva janam mevasha maanay
a swaahaa.
The phrase sarva janam mevashamaanaya literally means bring all people under mycont
rol .Thus, this is a selfish mantra for controlling people.
It israajasik/taamasik and inappropriate for someone who wants to remain saatwik
and desires only self-knowledge and nothing else.

pranava
the source of all. It representsBrahman. Shreem is Lakshmi beeja and stands for
prosperityand well-being of all kinds (not justwealth). Hreem is Mahalakshmi be
eja and also known asmaayaa beeja. It represents the entiremanifested creation a
nd running of it. Kleem is theMahasaraswati beeja and also known askaama (desire
) beeja. The consonant g belongs to Ganapathi.The beeja gloum comes from it
by adding l and oum .
Adding r and l to consonants, wemake them work mainly throughPingala and Ida nadis (
respectively),
i.e.
knowledge andsurrender (respectively). The voweladded at the end oum belongs to Ma
heswara and showsremoving darkness.
Overall, thesyllable gloum makes one surrender to the power of Ganeshaand remove
the darkness throughthat surrender. The next beeja gam in the mantra stands for re
alizing the nature of Ganesha.8Ganapataye means to Ganapati . Varavarada means the b
