SUBJECT

DESCRIPTION

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for assembling recorded raw material into a finished product


suitable for broadcasting. The material may consist of camera footage,
dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects.
This is a key role in the post-production process and the editors skill can
determine the quality and delivery of the final product.
The editor may be part of a team and will usually work closely with the
producer director to achieve the desired end result.
Oversees all aspects of post-production to ensure that the final version of
the content meets production requirements and satisfies the correct timelength requirements.
The Editor may work on a variety of productions including feature filmsl,
television programs, music videos and cmmericals.

Duties Involved:
KEY
ACCOUNTABILITIES

Assemble all raw footage, with camera shots either recorded or


transferred oonto video tape in preparation for inputting into the
computer

Effect organization of uncut rushes and sound, synchronize and


store them into files on the computer

Must digitally cut the files to determine the logical sequence of


the film and what is usable

Must create a rough cut of the program/film and determine the


exact cutting for the next and final stages

Colour correction and tweaking video files to improve quality

Must carry out technical reviews of completed program

Ensure delivery of online schedules

Utilize computer graphics and special effects for video postproduction in accordance with the overall production concept

Makes video products available in a variety of formats


coordiantes internal and external duplication services as required

Ensure that the images are a good digital representation of the


product photographed in terms of colour and detail

Additional tasks may include:

Overseeing the quality and progress of audio and video


engineering and editing

Consulting with the director, producer, channel executive and / or


client throughout the post-production process

Experiementing with styles and technicquies including the design


of graphic elements

Writing voiceover / commentary

Suggesting or selecting music

Continuity clerk during productions (feature)

Knows the uses, operations and limitations of videotape and


tapelers, editing systems and related equipment.

Effectively operate and maintain video editing systems and


related equipment.

REQUIREMENTS

LANGUAGE

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Television, Film, Photography,


Media Studies, Performing Arts and/or related field AND at least
two years working experience

Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or


education approved by Human Resources.

Ability to demonstrate a genuine interest in the work backed up


with evidence of theoretical competency and good creative
abilities.

Ability to communicate effectively in English
