A banking solution provided by Infosys.
It runs on:
UNIX operating system
Oracle as the backend RDBMS engine

Is highly flexible and scalable.

Work Flow: Sequence of functions to be followed
Scheme Types: Hard Coded. 14 in numbers
Scheme Code:
Defined under a Scheme Type
Created for each Bank product
Linked to a Sub GL

Customer Accounts:
Opened for a customer under a Scheme Code

Office Accounts:
General accounts other than customer accounts

A transaction updates the account and the respective Sub

Work Class:
3 digit number representing different levels in a bank
Used for Menu access control

Role Profile:
Passing powers and authorisation powers

Part Tran: Part of a transaction


Interest Calculation:
Accrual: Mere calculation
Booking: Accounted for at the Bank Level
Collection: Effects the customer accounts

Placeholder: A label used to identify Office accounts

Branch Advice Request (BAR):Raised by a branch on
another branch for reversal of the debit entries made.
Temp table: A table where the data is stored temporarily.
Zone: Defined for both Inward and Outward Clearing.

Exceptions:
Warning:
Is merely a message
Allows the user to proceed

Exception:
Is a deviation from the normal banking rules
Can be overridden by appropriate authority
Should be authorised by the appropriate work class

Error:
Is a deviation from normal banking rules
Cannot be overridden by any user

Summary
In this session, you learnt that:

In Finacle, each customer gets a unique customer ID which is
unique for the bank and not for the branch

In Finacle, the pre-requisite for opening an account is to have
a customer ID.
Finacle supports various banking operations, such as
deposits, transactions, remittances, clearing and generating
reports.
There are various terms used in Finacle, such as UPM, SOL,
Work Flow, OSP, BAR and zone.
There are specific keys that are used in Finacle for various
functions, such as F1 is used for Help, F2 is used for retrieving
the list of items for selection and F10 is used for saving.
