Thisbeautifultemple,whichislocatedattopofahill,wasconstructedbyBirlas.BirlaMandiriscomposedof
sculptedwhitemarble,andfloatsonthecityskylinefromthehilltopofKalaPahad.TheidolinthetempleisareplicaoftheoneatthefamousTirupati
andwascompletedbytheBirlasin1976.ThetempleoffersapanoramicviewofthetwincitiesofHyderabadandSecundrabad.ScenesfromRamayana
andMahabharataarefinelysculptedinthemarble.Themainidolinthetempleisan11foottallstatueofLordVenkateswarawhichissculptedfrom
blackgranite,speciallyminedandbroughtfromPhirangipuraminGunturdistrict.

devotees.[1]JagannathmeansLordoftheUniverse.Thetemplewhichwasconstructedduring2009recentlyliesinChandrayangutta.

ItissaidthatthisisareplicaoforiginalJagannathTempleofPuri(Orissa)incontextofdesign.Themost
attractingportionofthistempleisits"Shikhara"(thepeak/top)measuringaround70feetinheight.Theredcolor
ofthetempleisduetotheusageofsandstone(around600tonneswerebroughtfromOrissawhichisbeingused
tobuildthiswholearchitecture)andaround60stonecarversgottheblessingtocarvethistemple.Thereare
shrinesdedicatedtoLakshmi,alongwithShiva,Ganesh,HanumanandNavagrahas.Theamoroussculpturesare
alsofoundtorepresenttheinnermostfeelingsofhumanbeingandthisexplainstokeepthemoutsidethetemple
alwayswhileentering.ThesanctumsanctorumhousesLordJagannathalongwithhissiblings,LordBalabhadra

OncewhentheKakatiyakingPrataprudraIIwentforhunting,hebecametiredandcametoaplacecalled
Lakshmipuram.Heheardtheroarofatigerandthoughtofhuntingitdown.Buthecouldnotfindthetigerand
satdownagain.Heheardtheroaragainandwentinthatdirection.Aftersometime,heheardthename"SriRam"
beingchanted.Hethrewhisweaponsandwentinthatdirection.Hecutdownalltheleavesandfounda
Hanumanstatue.Heprostratedbeforethelordandthenwentbacktohisfort.Inhisdreamthatnight,thelord
cameinhisdreamandaskedhimtobuildatempleinthatplace.Thenextdaythekinglaidthefoundationand
thetemplewasconstructed.

ThetemplehasbeenunderthecontroloftheKakatiyakings.Theystartedaddingsmallertempleswithinthepremisesitself.ThetemplesofLordRama,
Vigneshwara,Nageshwara,BrahmarabasamethaSpatikaLingeshwara,Durgamata,Saraswatimata,JagannathaVenugopalaswamy,Navagrahasare
situated.TheNavagrahagodsareconsideredtoberesponsibleforthehappeningsintheworld.DevoteesconsiderthedarshanofGoddessDurgaasvery
auspiciousassheisconsideredthemotheroftheUniverse.LordAnjaneyaisknownasDhyanaAnjaneyahere.Thereisapondinthetemplewherethe
