Can a planet conjunct itself? Or is this only possible when it conjuncts its antiscion?
That is the paradox. Let us take a closer look.
It is the antiscion which leads to this tangled question. What is an antiscion? It is a
mirror point that has its axis at the points of the solstices (0 deg. Cancer/0 deg.
Capricorn). The antiscia are reflections in relation to this axis. So a planet at 19.30
deg. Taurus has its antiscion at 10.30 deg. Leo. But the closer you get to the
solstice point the trickier it gets. A planet at 0.00 deg. Capricorn has its antiscion at
29.60 deg. Sagittarius. It is conjunct its antiscion!
Now an antiscion is considered to be the shadow of the planet and when the
antiscion of a planet conjuncts another planet it is as if the other planet is
conjuncted bodily, but in a covert or hidden way. So at 0 deg. Cancer and 0 deg.
Capricorn the planets shadow conjuncts itself. Hence the question, Can a planet
conjunct itself only here and nowhere else? But then isnt a planet always
conjunct itself, wherever it is?
How does one solve the paradox?
There are two things you have to do. First you have to view the chart as being in
movement. Secondly you have to engage your Imagination. What is a mirror point?
What does a mirror reflect? What happens to your reflection when you move? If you
move to the right, in which direction does your reflection move? What happens if
you and your reflection are identical and you then move forward? Physically this is
impossible as the closest you can come is to touch your nose to your reflections
nose. But in your Imagination you can move through the mirror to the other side. It
is then a point of transition from substantial to insubstantial and vice versa. Now
consider what a solstice is. The Sun has reached its highest or lowest declination.
At the winter solstice we have the shortest day and the longest night of the year.
These two points can be thought of, among other things, as gateways that lead
either into birth (0 deg. Cancer) or into death (0 deg. Capricorn).
they affirm that Cancer is the gate through which souls descend, but Capricorn
that through which they ascend, and exchange a material for a divine condition of
being. Thomas Taylor On the Homeric Cave of the Nymphs, Select Works of
Porphyry, p. 155*
At the winter solstice point the mirror flips, the critical point has been reached. The
long dark night that extends itself over time does not come. The longest night
makes way for longer days.
What the solsticial point shows is the balance between the actual and the potential.
Birth and Death are potentials of each other. So yes a planet can conjunct itself. It
carries both its actuality and its potentiality. The antiscia of a planet shows a
potential, which is insubstantial because it has not yet been realized. But a planet
carries its potential at all times. It has it and moves towards it.
*See John Frawleys article Homer Sweet Homer in the Astrologers Apprentice

to Thomas Taylors translation and Commentary which is in itself very interesting
Parallel and
Antiscion: for theSolstice
and highly recommended.

The word antiscion or the plural antiscia has a very arcane sort of ring to it. In A
Paradox for the Solstice I discussed its character as a mirror of the axis of the
solstices.
In this article I would like to acquaint you with the parallel which essentially is the
more generalised form of the antiscion and the contra-antiscion, as the opposite
degree of an antiscion is sometimes called. While an antiscion is the mirror or
parallel point of the longitudinal position of a planet with respect to the solstice
points, the highest and lowest declination of the Sun, the parallel considers the
declination of the planet itself. The declination of a planet describes its distance
from the celestial equator. So two planets with the same declination on the same
side of the celestial equator are parallel to each other. If they are on opposite sides
of the celestial equator they are contra-parallel. Simple enough if you have an
ephemeris that includes the declinations of the planets. The parallel is so to speak a
conjunction by declination rather than by longitude.
What is not generally known is that each degree of declination can be projected
onto the ecliptic. There is a geometrical relationship between the two. This can be
most clearly seen with the equinox points at 0 Aries and Libra which have a
declination of 0 and the solstice points at 0 Cancer and Capricorn where the Sun
has its highest or lowest declination of 2327.
Now the parallel aspect need not only be applied to a natal chart. It can also be
considered in primary directions. It is seldom used, but you will come across it now
and then in older authors.
How does one find the parallel aspect points in a chart? The easiest way is to use a
set of tables. I say easy as a set of tables can give you some idea of what generally
is happening. A computer programme may help to quickly calculate a value,
comprehension is however reduced to a minimum. I have two sets of tables. I
generally use is those of Erich Carl Khr, Primr-Direktions-Tabellen along with a
table of logarithms. The Khr Tables are useful as he includes the log tan of
declination for each minute of right ascension, interpolation is unnecessary. All I do
is look up the log tan of a planets declination and then refer to Khrs tables. So if a
planet has a declination of say 2211south (this is Jupiters current declination), I
look up the log tan, which is 9.61040, this is quickly found at 1135 Gemini/
Sagittarius and also at 1825 Cancer/Capricorn. Did you notice something? The
parallel and contra-parallel points have exactly the same character as the antiscion
points! The antiscion of a planet in Gemini is always found in Cancer, just as the the
antiscion of a planet in Sagittarius is always in Capricorn. This tells us something
about antiscions. The antiscion of the Sun is also its parallel degree (the Suns
declination when projected to the ecliptic will always be the same as its longitude).
With the rest of the planets we are in a sense aligning the planet with the Sun.

Here is a secret which most astrologers dont know about. Here, unless you are an 8th
house native and already go about looking beneath, are the aspects that go, well below the
surface. And unless you are committed to seeing the unseen, and knowing the unknowable,
the practically invisible forces, you will, like 99% of the population who supposedly dedicate
themselves to this particular study, totally miss out, and totally live on the surface for the
rest of your life.
I am not going to go into how the aspect is calculated, or how it compared to different types
of calculations. I believe that these are all possible, but basically amount to the same thing.
Basically calculating the degrees of latitude allows you to view planets placed on line X.
Whereas the vast majority of the study depends solely on line Y, calculating line X allows
you the third dimension. It is that simple.
In the past the Antiscion was used. Some people still use this. Some people use it and are
unaware of how or why they use it, of the reasons behind its tabulation. It was created to
delineate a rough line of latitude. Latitude which the Sun follows and which the planets
follow in relation to the Sun as they are roughly on the same disk shaped eliptical path
around the Sun. The Antiscia are an old fashioned latitude calculator, and used today for no
other reason than that this was the tool for which parallels were most easily seen in precomputer days. Antiscia are simply a crude parallel calculator, they gave approximation of
latitude through the solstice point, but with a rather large degree of error. Today however,
the declinations are easily known, but not easily illustrated, not in relation to the longitude,
without a three dimensional chart. Now that would be something.
Here is the secret then. The Parallel and Contraparallel aspects by their nature, allow two
points which are not linked through elemental basis to be linked together, to be merged, to
be combined in signs and degrees which are totally random as compared with longitudinal
astrology. That is the core of it. This is the big secret.
But that is not all. The Parallel and Contraparallel are the pinpointers. These are the things
that give you real things which actually happen, whether or not other longitudinal aspects
are in operation. Many times a conjunction occurs, an aspect of great importance, an
opposition, or a square, but nothing apparent really takes place.
The way Astrology works is that the Stars make their rays felt on Earth. This is fine. This is
why planetary placements work so well. This is why temperament, why house dispositors
work. The Stars send down their qualities, their gifts and special talents, as well as their
doubts and atrocities. But the aspects are not complete. This is what is greatly lacking in the
vast majority of readings. The simple fact that Y by longitude is located and aligned with the
The latitude of planets are as important as the longitude. It is no secret, it is just something
that an astrologer must work out before really seeing what is there. Looking at a chart and
then looking at it through latitude is like looking at a body and then looking at it through XRays. Latitude must be considered in relation to all of the planets and all of the major points
including the Ascendant-Descendant axis and the MC-IC axis as well, since these also are
calculated using both longitude and latitude.

[if gte mso 10]> [endif]The Winter Solstice is the split second in the year in which the Sun
is at its greatest angular distance from the Equatorial plane from the observer. This occurs
at Midday when the sun is at its lowest point in the Sky over the course of the year.
Zero degrees of Capricorn, marks this point. It occurs between the 20th and 23rd of
December in the Northern hemisphere. The Winter Solstice has for millennia been
associated with a very sacred, special period of time. From Stonehenge to the Pyramids, to
Christs birth, which most Historians claim was not really on the 24th December, this
astronomical event has been imbued with importance.
The Antiscia are the degrees of the Zodiac Year which correspond on either side of the
Winter Solstice beginning at 00 degrees of Capricorn. How do they work? Why are they
important? If you notice that a beautiful spring day in April can sometimes look and feel
exactly the same as a beautiful day in October, or at least that there are the same number of
daylight hours and night time hours you have the beginning of an explanation. There is a
seasonal significance to the Antiscia, being that days in late spring can be very similar to
days of early Summer, with early spring having similarities with late summer at least by the
amount of daylight that there is due to the Suns rising and setting positions through the
year.
The real significance of Antiscia though comes from its relation to that winter solstice. The
Solstice is a magical point in time, the turning point in the year, and it should be considered
as the real new year if you go by the Astronomical significance of it. So for an example: 15
degrees of Pisces and Libra are Antiscia to each other. They are both an equal distance away
from the Winter Solstice which would be 75 degrees. They have the same number of hours
of daylight, because the Sun at these point rises the same time and sets the same time. The
Sun during the day reaches the same degree in the sky and the Midheaven is at the same
distance from the equator. The only difference is that one side is increasing in light and the
other is decreasing.
In the Night Sky of the Winter Solstice, as seen from a northern sky, the three stars in
Orions Belt align with the brightest star in the eastern sky Sirius to show where the Sun will
rise in the morning after winter solstice. At about three BC it is said that three wise men or
three Kings came from the East following a bright star to witness the Son of God being
born. It is interesting that to this day this birth is celebrated year after year coinciding with
the Winter Solstice, the place where the Sun was traditionally thought to be re-born each
year.
To think of the immense meaning and significance not just in terms of the mathematical
astronomical point, but of what it means on a spiritual level, then the Antiscia connecting
through the Winter Solstice must has an astrological significance too and it is not surprising
that there are tables which delineate their positions.
How do you go about interpreting Anticia though? It is clear that even though many
separate cultures around the world throughout history and pre-history did not have any
cultural cross pollination, they still honoured the Winter Solstice. Take Amaterasu, the
Japanese Sun-Goddess, bringing Sunlight back to the universe on this day, Beiwe of the
Scandinavian Saami people, Chaomos ancient Pakistan, and then Natalis Domini of 4th
Century Rome. All of these sacred traditions are connected together by re-birth of the Sun,
by renewal of hope for the coming year, and all celebrated and honoured at the same time.
It would be obvious that any point that was close enough to the actual Winter Solstice point
would be both conjunct itself and in Anticia. So two planets or points both placed within a
degree of 00 Capricorn would be conjunct and in Anticia. The interpretation of points and
planets must therefore be linked in with that Solar Renewal. It is often described that
planets or points placed at 00 degrees of Cardinal signs are Aries Point, but if we take the
Winter Solstice for its true Astrological and Astronomical significance, that point ought to be
renamed the Capricorn Point.
Planets or Points that are Antiscia with each other are connected by the most sacred timing
in relation to the Capricorn Point, in relation to the Winter Solstice. The interpretation of
Antiscia, are that they mirror each other, they aspect each other through being
symmetrically equidistant.
Having explained Antiscia though, I believe that these points are only connected by the
Solar Year and only in relation to those Solstice points. They work like a mirror, but to get a
truer picture it may be more useful to consider the parallel aspects. Anticia are based on
Solar Longitude, they correspond roughly to the Solar Latitude throughout the year. But
since the planets do not pass exactly along the elliptical plane, looking up parallel and
contraparallel aspects are definitely a more accurate three dimensional representation, a
more complicated calculation, sure, but with technology these aspects are easily seen and
analysed

This is something Ive thought about before, but it never occured to me to put pen to paper,
because it was such a simple realisation. The truth is often far simpler and far less
complicated than I had ever imagined, so much so that I actually put it asside, in my search
for something a bit more satisfying. This introduction may seem obtuse but it is only so in
order to prepare the reader for a concept which appears so appallingly simple, it can be
shrugged off, yet which may permit him or her to see the world completely afresh. The meat
is here, I will not expand it beyond the initial idea, nor fluff it up with extra words beyond
this introduction.
The square is hard. Hard things in life result in pain, and suffering, argument, strife,
problems, difficulties. When two planets are in a square, they are said to be at war. Squares
are actually part of the grand cross which includes the 180 degrees opposition and the
midpoints between the squares are 45 degree octagon or (semi square).
When acting on impulse, and when acting according to animal nature (as humans are
biological) one planet must fight against another and defeat it or be defeated. This may be
physical or psychological. The Mars in a square allowed to act according to animal nature
will always kill, and always be violent, and always rape. Only look at a nature program, to
see this in action. Mars or Saturn in Lions and snakes are the same two planets in humans.
What makes us different from animals? Humans are able to take a square and decide not to
act on animal impulse. Whats required in such an act? Sacrifice. Plain and simple, the
square makes up with four other squares the grand cross. The Cross is a symbol of human
sacrifice. It is as simple as a choice between the Beast (act on animal nature) and the lamb
(sacrifice), the essential meaning in the book of Revelation. A second point on this esoteric
explanation is that of Christs birthchart, which is an angular GRAND CROSS. Do not forget
Christ had a choice to when Satan said that all of the world could be yours, but he chose
the path of sacrifice. So when confronted with a cross, square, opposition there is always a
choice,
you
can
fight,
or
you
can
sacrifice.
Why sacrifice? Christs sacrifice has lived on throughout two thousand years of history, it
was no fluke. While those who acted according to animal (beastial) nature, their effects were
detrimental to themselves and to others, why? because they did not sacrifice for God, which
is essentially the number one esoteric thing to remember.
How to sacrifice properly? As stated above, anyone can observe his or her personal squares
and life difficulties. If you have a Mars square you will get angry and want to fight or shout,
or put other people down (kill), proper sacrifice is learning to control these thoughts of
anger, and follow Jesuss teaching, (when someone asks you to walk a mile, walk the next
mile also).
Remember, the Lamb (sacrifice), will always be victorious over the beast (no sacrifice). The
Book of Revelation may be seen in these terms. Sacrifice which is down with the self interest
doesnt work either, it is only total sacrifice and subjugation to God which counts.Praying
for yourself or your family is not sacrifice. Praying to God as worship, as subjugation of the
animal nature to spirit, this is sacrifice.
Fasting, prayer, giving change to the poor, meditating, taking unfair criticism, and not
reacting to injustice: these are all little ways to sacrifice. You dont have to die like Christ, or
like a martyr. Following the ten commandments (or the eightfold path, or any form of
abstinance), is another path to sacrifice. Reading the bible, will obviously further explain
how it all works. My words are just a finger pointing to a greater teacher, from someone
who is on the path and knows the direction, and admittedly is not there

QUESTION: I've been to astro.com and read about my chart, and now
would like to learn more. What do I do now?
What additional websites can you recommend?
ANSWER:Most learn astrology by reading books and by examining
charts -- lots of charts. Exploring your own natal chart is an excellent
place to start. You may want to keep a journal so you can look up the
astrological factors operating at the time of key events in your life.
Gathering birth information from your friends and family members is
another great way to put your astrological studies into practice. The more
charts you explore, the more sophisticated your astrological understanding
will become.
Here are some suggested websites to advance your astrological
knowledge:
QUESTION: Are there any astrology books online I can read for free, or
download for free?
ANSWER:
There are several free books on this site, including some classics:
www.astrologyweekly.com/astrology-books/index.php
Here is a site where you can download free treatises on Vedic
astrology: www.astrocamp.com/vedicastrology/2004/05/freeastrology-books-download.html
and even includes an atlas so you can look up longitude and latitude
of the birth city. You can download this at www.soulhealing.com/

Astrolog is another great free program, and it is available not only for
Windows, but for DOS, and for MAC. It does not have an atlas,
however, so you will have to look up longitude and latitude
somewhere else: www.astrolog.org/astrolog.htm
Zet lite is a good program, evening giving daily transits:

Astrology for Windows has been recommended by several people:
www.halloran.com/astwin23.htm
Riyal is an excellent freee astrology calculation software designed by
my friend, Juan Revilla. Not only does it calculate your chart with the
traditional planets, but you can find out where a whole slew of other
bodies in the solar system were as well. Check out:

And if you wish to print out ephemeris pages for a particular year,
you can find them free on these sites:
Swiss Ephemeris has PDF files for every year from 1400-2199.
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view these pages, but
that makes them very printer friendly.
Khaldea has ephemeris pages for 1500-2100. Each year is a
separate webpage so you do not need Adobe Acrobat Reader to
view them, but they are not as printer-friendly.

QUESTION:What are the other aspects, and why are they called Minor
Aspects?
QUESTION:How do I know when to pay attention to the Minor Aspects,
or even if I should?
ANSWER:While the Major Aspects, listed in the previous question, are
the most noticeable, the minor aspects still add color to the picture, flesh
out the story. They are only minor in comparison, because each one will
give additional details about the chart you are studying.
So use them if you want to delve deeper into a chart, or want to add some
background information. Use them if you have the time to explore many
different levels about your subject. Dont use them if you are trying to get
a basic, clear image of your subject in as short a time as possible.
And if you do use them, study the Major Aspects first, and then move on
to the others. Otherwise, you will risk muddying up the story and be
unable to truly see the whole because of so many parts.
NOTE: The following section on Minor Aspects is under construction.
Descriptions will be added.

www.universalastrologer.com/septile.html
Gemini. When you look at the current positions of the the planets, you see
that Saturn is at 25 Gemini, so you can say that Saturn is transiting
conjunct that person's Sun. If I know that the person's Sun is in the 3rd
house, then I will also know that Saturn is transiting through the 3rd house
of that chart.
Another example: supposing I have my Ascendant (Rising Sign, First
House Cusp) at 27 degrees of Libra, and my Second House starts at 27
degrees of Scorpio, but I have no planets in the first house of my chart. I
look at the current positions of the planets, and see that Jupiter is 12
degrees of Scorpio. Since 12 Jupiter is later than 27 Libra but earlier than
27 Scorpio, I know that Jupiter is currently transiting through my First
House.
A transit is much different than a progression (see the next question for
information on progressions), but it is possible for a transit to be the
activating force bringing a progression into action.
Here are some interpretations of major planets, from two different authors,
to help you get started:
progressions are totally symbolic, and are more of an abstract concept than
transits. There are different types of progressions. These show the
symbolic unfolding of one's life.
The most frequently used progression is known as a Secondary
Progression. This is based on the assumption that "Each day after
birth represents one year of life later on". With this system,
astrologers equate one day after birth to one year of life (the day-fora-year method).
For example, at birth, a person has the Moon at 0 degrees 15 minutes
Aries. Exactly two days after the child was born, the Moon was at 25
degrees 17 minutes Aries. This new position is said to describe the
influence of the Moon on this person at age two. Planets in the sky
when the person was 29 days old symbolize the person's life at 29
years of age.
Another way to progress a chart is by using solar arc directions. With
this method, the chart is progressed by finding the "arc" (distance in
degrees) between the progressed Sun and the natal Sun, and adding
this distance in degrees to the rest of the planets and points. Because
the Sun moves at a rate of almost one degree a day, this method
makes it rather easy to estimate positions of progressed planets and
points (the degrees of progression are roughly equivalent to the age
of the individual).
So for example, at birth the Sun was at 0 Aries 15. At age two the
Sun was at 2 Aries 13. The difference between the two is 1 degree 58
minutes. You add this distance to all planets in a person's chart, and
that will describe the person's life at age two. So if the Moon was at 2
Taurus 00 at birth, the solar arc addition of 1 degree 58 minutes
would be added to the Moon, making it 3 degrees 58 minutes at age
two. And so on with the rest of the planets.
Probably the progression that is most paid attention to is that of the Moon,
since it moves so quickly compared to other planets in the chart. Here are
two sites that may be of assistance:
Progressed Moon through the signs
Progressed Moon aspecting natal planets
And Mars is almost 2 full years between retrogrades. I think that's very
sporting of the planet, since one can only take so much intense Mars. The
average Mars retrograde lasts about 80 days.
you must sign a contract, check it over again and again, and show it
to someone else to re-check it a few times as well. Sometimes, the
other party in the contract may actually be trying to pull a deception,
so be extra cautious at this time, not only for what the contract says,
but what it doesn't say.
Medical diagnosis is sometimes way off at this time, so if you must
have a diagnosis, get a second opinion now. Or, if possible, hold off
until Mercury goes direct.
Jobs started during Mercury Retrograde rarely last.
If you play a trick on someone, it will almost invariably backfire on
you.
If you meet a 'special someone' during Mercury Retrogarde, it quite
often does not last.

QUESTION:What is Chiron, and where can I find out more about it?
QUESTION:What are the Centaurs?
QUESTION:What's this about putting asteroids in my chart?
QUESTION:What are Ceres, Pallas, Juno and Vesta, and do I need them?
ANSWER:Some astrologers began to put the "Big Four" asteroids (Ceres,
Pallas, Juno and Vesta) in charts in 1974, and many now use them for
supplementary information. Asteroids are also called Minor Planets.
Chiron, discovered in 1977, is a unique body that spends most of its orbit
between Saturn and Uranus, and is being used by an increasing number of
astrologers, even many who do not use any asteroids. And in the 1990's,
several new bodies have been discovered and placed in a totally new
classification, Centaurs. Astrologers are only just beginning to explore
these, so not a lot is known yet.
Here are some sites to learn more about each of these:

QUESTION: Are the signs now wrong because the stars have moved?
QUESTION: What is the Precession of the Equinoxes?
QUESTION: What is the difference between Tropical and Sidereal
Astrology?
QUESTION: When is the Age of Aquarius? And what is it?
ANSWER: As Earth spins on its axis, its axis wobbles (precesses) very
slowly over a period of about 26,000 years. As this occurs, the pole of the
Earth gradually moves around, and this movement is called the
precessional arc.
Because Earth's axis is tilted at about 23 in its orbit around the sun,
Earth's equatorial plane is tilted with respect to the ecliptic plane, the plane
created by Earth's orbit around the Sun. These two intersecting planes
create an intersecting line called the vernal axis. One point of this axis is
where the Sun is on the first day of Spring, where days and nights are
equal, and this is called the Vernal Equinox. The other end of the axis is
also a point of equal days and nights, and (since it is where the Sun is at
the beginning of Autumn) is termed the Autumnal Equinox.
As Earth's pole precesses, Earth's equatorial plane wobbles in the plane of
the ecliptic. This causes the equinox points to move around the ecliptic at
a rate of about 1 every 72 years, making one complete cycle in Earth's
precessional Great Year, approximately 25,920 years. The precessional
movement of the vernal points is called the "precession of the equinoxes."
The vernal point (the Spring Equinox point) is also the starting point of the
Tropical zodiac, defined as 0 Aries. Because the vernal point moves in
the ecliptic, the entire set of signs comprising the Tropical zodiac also
moves with respect to the stars (and the Sidereal zodiac), which remain
fixed in their location in the heavens.
The Sidereal zodiac is a set of signs that are aligned with their
corresponding constellations. In the Sidereal zodiac, the Sun enters the
Aries when it reaches the beginning of the constellation Aries. Unlike the
Tropical zodiac, the Sidereal signs are based on fixed constellations.
The Tropical zodiac aligned with the fixed Sidereal Zodiac around 200
A.D. At that time, the first day of Spring coincided with the Sun entering
the constellation Aries. However, due to the precession of the equinoxes,
the two zodiacs have drifted apart. And here is the cause of arguments
among the two types of astrologers....and also between astrologers and
astronomers.
The exact location of the Sidereal cusps in the ecliptic is a topic of debate
amongst scholars. The exact distance in arc degrees between 0 Tropical
Aries and 0 Sidereal Aries is therefore also a topic of debate. This
distance is called the "ayanamsa" (a Hindu word), and there are
disagreements about exactly how large this ayanamsa is, as well as how to
calculate it. (Thus, there are several different ayanamsas used today. The
most common is the Fagan-Bradley Ayanamsa. It is reckoned to the star
Spica in sidereal Virgo. The Fagan-Bradley Ayanamsa is 24 49' 12" @
2006 A.D. This means that on Jan 1, 2006, 00:00:00: GMT, the Tropical
zodiac has drifted backward from the fixed Sidereal zodiac by 24 49' 12"
based upon the Fagan-Bradley Ayanamsa. This places the vernal point (0
tropical Aries) at 5 10' 48" in sidereal Pisces. But some authorities use a
different ayanamsa all together.)
So using the above ayanamsa, the Vernal point is now close to 5 of
Sidereal Pisces, showing we are still in the Age of Pisces. When it first
shifted from Aries to Pisces, we entered what many called the Age of
Pisces. It is slowly moving towards the constellation of Aquarius, and
when it reaches that point, we will enter the Age of Aquarius. When will
this occur? It depends upon the ayanamsa that is used. Using the above
Fagan-Bradley version, we have over 370 years yet before the Aquarian
age actually begins.
Some astrologers only use the Tropical Zodiac. They see the zodical signs
as deriving their nature from the Sun/Earth relationship, and believe the
first day of Spring is always the first day of the sign Aries. They know that
the constellations are no longer lined up with the signs, and believe that
the coinciding of the signs with the constellations at one time was to bring
the nature of the signs to humanity's conscious awareness. They do not use
the constellations, although some Tropical Astrologers DO add the
positions of some of the stars in their charts for added information. Most
Tropical Astrologers feel that Sidereal Astrology is not valid because the
actual signs come from the Sun/Earth relationship.
Some astrologers only use the Sidereal Zodiac. They see the zodiac signs
as deriing their nature from the stars, or the sections of the sky where the
constellations are located, and believe the first day of Aries is always
when the Sun enters the constellation Aries. They do use the Vernal
Equinox point, but as a sensitive point in the chart, not as the start of a
zodiac sign. Most Sidereal Astrologers feel that Tropical Astrology is not
valid because the astrologers are no longer using the actual constellations.
And then there are some astrologers who utilize both zodiacs. They
believe that each one refers to a different realm of consciousness, or a
different dimension of human experience, and that the relationship of the
Tropical Zodiac to the Sidereal Zodiac reveals much about the unfolding
of human history, and about the evolutionary unfoldment of human
consciousness.
