ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION
GENERAL
‘The Specification for electrical installation shall include the specification clauses of
the General Specification Worksection ELE and the Project Specific Specification
(PSS) clauses with prefix of “ELE” stated in this Specification. This part of
specifications shall be read in conjunction with Appendix V to the Special
Conditions of Contract, Special Conditions of Tender and the General
Specifications Worksection ELE in respect of Materials, Equipments, System
Requirement, Installation, Testing & Commissioning and Maintenance.

THE WORKS

“The site of the Works is at Eastem Harbour Crossing Site Phase 4, a public housing
estate of the Hong Kong Housing Authority in Yau Tong.

1. The works to be carried out under this MGMP Package shall be referred to as
“Mle” stated at PRE.B2.01 1.P and shall include the whole of the materials and
abour necessary for the complete electrical installation and the maintenance of
the same for twenty four (24) months following the certified completion date
of the Works or any Sections) of the Works, for:
a. Three 41 storey site specific blocks namely Block P, Q and R
constituting the following major features:
i) The ground floor, mezzanine and typical floors of Blocks P and
Block Q are identically handed except the truncated floors from
F35 to the roof at Wing D of Block Q;
ii) The typical floors of Block Q and Block R are identical except the
truncated floors as mentioned above;
iii) ‘The first domestic floor at Wing C of Block P & Q has been
omitted to make way for the passage of an elevated walkway,
iv) The first domestic floor at Wing'B of Block R has been omitted
for a public passage at the ground floor,
¥) — Mezzanines are provided at all wings of Block P & Q Tinking the
elevated walkway to create public open spaces and ventilation
voids;
b, MAC office on GIF at each of the Domestic Block;
c. — Aneighboushood elderly centre (NEC) on GIF at wing B of block P and

all as shown on the Base Scheme Design Drawings and detailed in this
Specification;
2. The electrical installation shall comprise the Electrical Power Distribution
and Associated Systems, Security (SE) System, Lighting Installation,
Mechanical Ventilation System, alll other equipment and systems
itemised and described hereunder and detailed in this Specification and
Base Scheme Design Drawings; and shall included all associated
builder's works and necessary liaison/attendance with concemed parties
and utility companies in relation to the satisfactory execution of the
installation, Design development of lighting installations for folly of
double deck walkway, covered walkway, linked bridge to lift tower,
drainage reserve area, refuse collection area (subject to excision) and
entrance fagade/portico of domestic blocks; design developments for the
base scheme design, proposed alternative design or any requested GMP
variations raised by the Contractor, the Sub-contractor herself or other
GMP. sub-contractors and general co-ordination of design and
installation works amongst different GMP sub-contractors. For the
O avoidance of doubt, associated builder’s works refer to building works to
be executed under this work package required for installing and
completing the electrical installations. The associated builder’s works
and attendances are outlined generally in sub-clause (4) below. Details
of associated builder’s works shall be submitted for approval prior to
commencement of work on site.
3. The complete installation shall mean, not only the major items of
equipment and apparatus conveyed by this Specification, but all the
incidental sundry components necessary for the complete execution of
the works and for the proper operation of the installation with their
labour charges, whether or not these sundry components are mentioned
in detail in the tender documents.
4. Provision and construction of associated builder’s works and attendances,
for Electrical Installation (including FTNS/CABDS/CCTVS Installation,
Security Alarm/EAS/ Door Phone System Installation) shall include:
a. Lamp pole foundations, concrete bases, beddings, footings,
enclosure for housing power supply/control gears for street lightings,
earth pits, chases, cable ducts, cable support brackets, luminaries
fixings/supports/enclosures for controls, holes/openings through
C) slab/wali/ocam, cable draw pits, cable trenches excavation,
)) backfilling, hoisting beam, plinths, floating slabs in emergency
generator Foom and similar associated builder's works required for

b. Cable duets, trench and draw pits in extemal areas for incoming
supply cables of CLP Power and signal cables of TBS Operators
from site boundary to transformer room and TBE room/duct room;
all ducts which are not accessible shall be lubricated with graphite
powder, Kept clean and complete with draw wires. Provide
sealing ‘at duct ends and fire collar/stoplapproved fire resist
‘material across fire compartments;
. Exhaust and ventilation air duct, louvers/gritles, volume control
damper, filter, silencer, fire damper, access panel, supports and
fixings;
4. Provision of necessary holes, chases, underground PVC or GI. duct,
and making good thereafter,

for mounting of roof extractors and/or exhaust fans;
) g. Fixtures/enclosures for mounting of external lighting and associated

h. Painting of exposed metal parts and cables as directed by CM upon
completion of the installation and before expiry of maintenance
period;
i, Liaise with CLP Power (HI) Limited for the installation; and
j. Submit to the Contract Manager's Representative in the moming of
every working day the daily labour strength report. Such report
shall indicate the number of workers and their deployment on site on
that day.
Construction of transformer room, main switch room and meter rooms on
ground floor, doors, rain guards, wall cow\/louvers for exhaust fan, air
duct inside transformer rooms, cable trenches inside transformer/main
switch rooms; cable tunnels from main switch room to ground floor
switch rooms; TBE room/duct room, meter rooms, meter cupboard,
doorphone and FTNS cupboard on typical floors ate provided by Main
Contractor.

‘The Contractor’s attention is drawn to the latest revision of the following
“Standard Drawing and Document” issued by the Housing Department
which shall also be complied with where relevant.
a, Standard Lighting Fitting Schedule.
The aforesaid “Standard Drawings and Documents” will be available for
inspection at the Building Services (New Works) Section, Housing
Department during normal office hours upon application to the Contract
Manager.
. The drawings of electrical installation and the above “Standard Drawings
and Documents” shall hereinafter be referred to as the Base Scheme
Design Drawings listed in the Drawing Series for Electrical Installations in
‘Appendix B of the Tender Document.
DEFINITIONS AND ABBREVIATIONS
Jn this Specification the word "shall" is mandatory, the word "will" is
informative, the word "should" is advisory and the Word "provide" means
supply and fix, or supply and install. In addition the following words shall
have meanings herein assigned:

"Authority"
‘means Hong Kong Housing Authority.
"Indicated"
means indicated elsewhere in the Specification or on the Drawings.
"or Equal” or "or Similar"
means having similar characteristics and Specification, as regards type of,
construction, performance, general appearance and standard of quality of
manufacture.
"Drawing"
‘means the drawings referred to in the Specification and any modification
of such drawings Approved by the Contract Manager and such other
drawings as may be, from time to time, furnished or Approved
"Standard Drawings"
