Primary Sources
Armillary sphere. N.d. Invention made with metal. King
Sejong the Great Memorial Hall, Seoul.
An invention that King Sejong ordered his men to
make in order to innovate Korean technology at the
time. The Sphere is mainly used for astrological
purposes. This Armillary Sphere helped my research
in a couple of ways. First it showed us what kind of
technology was considered innovative in Sejongs
time helping us put on scale his other inventions,
plus this sphere also shows us what it looked like.
Yi, Do. Hunminjeongeum. 1446.
When King Sejong wanted to give the common folks
of Korea the ability to read, he introduced the
Hunminjeongum , a document describing the new
language Sejong has created. This document
describes why it is King Sejong made Hangul and
what it will be used for. It also compares the new
language, Hangul with the language Korea was using
before that, Hanja. For my project on King Sejong
and his legacy, this document proves to have many
of the things I was looking for. Several ideas and
summarys of those ideas are used for my research.

man himself. This website serves the purpose of
telling the user who Kim Young Ha is and what books
he has made. This source also tells us a lot of about
Kim Young Ha himself and his journey regarding how
he became a famous writer. During my research, this
resource helps us give examples on people who
benefit from King Sejongs legacy.

Information about many events and figures can be
found on this encyclopedia type website. Its King
Sejong page tells a lot about him and his legacy. It
also tells us how he rose to throne and his family
members. With tons of information in this website,
the information here is used as a sort of guide for my
research.

The website, Choson Korea has archives and pages
about Korea and its history. In the website, it explains
how King Sejong rose to the throne and what he
does. It also touches briefly on how Sejong affected
Korea and its future even after his death. This source

helped us establish how Sejong was able to achieve

everything he did by giving us some background on
his kingship.

classroom activities. The Author, Kim Yong, made the
PDF in a way where the contents will give teachers
who know close to nothing about Sejong the
information needed to give a course about him. The
PDF itself mainly talks about Sejongs inventions. I
used this source in my research as it goes more in
depth in Sejongs inventions

what this source is about. This video goes into detail
about King Sejongs achievements and his life. Vank
talks about why it was that King Sejong was believed
by many to be the best king in Korean history. This
video helped me see why it was Sejong was so
important and is featured in the website.

This is a book written by Lee and Ramsay and tells
about how Korea was in the past. This book mainly
describes the structure of Korea in the 15th century

and how its language affects it. Lee and Ramsay talk
a lot about the changes on Koreas structure after
Hangul was introduced, making it really useful for my
research on King Sejongs legacy.

Hangul and its impact. This PDF talks about the
origins of Hangeul and how it was developed and
eventually released. Chin also talks about Hangeuls
characteristics and why is it so important in Koreas
history. This source helped us greatly in knowing
more about Hangeul and double checking what other
sources already told me.

source helped us establish and double check who
