Last October 31st

By Coy Serrano | 5-Biak-na-Bato

I went to Holy Cross cemetery last October 31 and saw many people eating.
I first played PSP when I got there and played fire with my friends. Then we
went ghost hunting. There were also people playing with board games.
I think that kids, including me, need to have more respect for the dead.

All Souls’ and All Saints’ Day

By Richard Limpin | 4-Yakan

When we got to the cemetery, we prayed for our relatives and lit candles.
After a while, we had our snacks. Then we went to another cemetery to
visit my grandfather but before we left, we placed flowers on the graves of
our relatives.
When we got to our grandfather’s grave, we prayed reverently and lit
candles for his soul. We stayed there up to 6 pm. Then we went back to our
house and lit candles near the door. The next day, we went to our altar and
prayed that our relatives’ spirits would be happy wherever they are.

Halloween abroad!
By Jonathan Alpaño | 4-Subanon

This year, I spent my Halloween in the United States. There, people

spend their Halloween differently from here in the Philippines. Kids
wear outrageous costumes, go trick or treating, and even watch a lot
of scary movies!
During my stay, I was really impressed with the fact that people real-
ly take time to decorate their houses and fashion their kids’ costumes.
It was nice seeing creative and colorful costumes. Even I went trick or
treating!
I was happy with this new
experience because I was
able to try something different
instead of just sitting around
my house and getting bored.
I saw lots of nice houses there.
Some even scared me! I got
really fascinated with the
house decorations because
at first, they looked ordinary but when I went near them, they be-
gan moving and making strange sounds.
The people there were kind. They made preparations for kids
like me who went trick-or-treating. Every house we knocked in,
people gave us candies of different kinds! I really enjoyed Hal-
loween this year!

Eaglet asks...
Many of us fear our Grade Level Coordinators
(GLC) for one reason or another. But we must remember that at the
end of the day, they always care and have the best intentions for us.
As a Halloween treat (or trick?), Eaglet asks Middle School GLCs:

What are you most afraid of?
