Finite Element Analysis based contact debonding analysis for simulating delamination
Introduction:
De-lamination is wide problem when it comes to composites, because with delamination the
structure of the composite is lost, and this means it's strength is reduced significantly.
This is because the composite acquires strength due to its structure, and if the structure is disturbed
the strength is reduced.
The idea behind delamination studies is to identify the point or force of collapse, the point after
which the composite looses all it's strength when the flaw propagates to a certain critical dimension
Objective
The analysis of Composites is a tedious task. The properties of the component will depend on nature
of fiber used in the composites, its orientation and how adjacent layers are stacking to create the
section. Intermediate to these layers particulate composite layers will be embedded to asses their
impact on the performances

Finite Element (FE) analysis and optimization of concentric heater.
Introduction
In applications requiring fluid at high temperatures, heat exchangers play a universal role.
However at times in conventional heat exchangers there is a variability in temperature, which is
introduced due to the design. The design controls the flow direction of the hot and cold fluids. In
some cases the flow is in the same direction, and in some case the flow is in opposite direction.
A new design expects to combine both the principles to deliver more consistent heating
The blue arrows represent cold fluid and red arrows the hot fluid, and create a hybrid concentric heat
exchanger. In such heat exchangers the fluid temperatures remain relatively stable.
However the main challenge this system faces is during the initial fire up. At initial stages the
temperature gradients are huge and this creates a lot of stress in the system

Transient Structural Analysis of Offshore Mooring Shackle and Chain Test
Introduction
DNV code stipulates the testing of each and every mooring shackle and chain prior to it's shipment.
Based on the performance of this test each component is given a rating
These tests are costly and time consuming as the shackle and chains used for mooring are heavy
components
If we can simulate some tests in FEA then this will reduce the cost overruns involved in case of
repetitive testing
Objective
The objectives of the project are
To do transient structural analysis of mooring shackle as per DNV requirements

Conducting a comparative analysis between standard shaft and an eccentric shaft using rotordynamic
analysis (research)
Introduction
Rotating machinery (e.g. compressor, turbine, electric motor) is subject to cyclic vibrating force such
as unbalance force. Some torque oscillation is also inevitable in the train with reciprocating
compressor or electric motor. In case the lateral or torsional natural frequency (lateral critical speed /
torsional critical speed) of rotor system coincides with the frequency of such excitation force,
excessive lateral or torsional vibration will result due to resonance, which may severely disturb plant
operation or may lead to machinery damage.
Machinery manufacturer is responsible to carry out lateral and torsional rotordynamic analyses in
order to investigate and mitigate the risk of such resonance problems
Objective
The objective of the project is to prepare a standard operating procedure for Rotor dynamic analysis
and perform initial comparative studies on the system

Finite Element Analysis of friction heating (Research )
Introduction
Typical finite element analysis are thermal to structural coupled analysis. In the friction heating
process, it is a structural to thermal simulation coupled, having its practical applications.
Sliding is a part and parcel of moving equipments (rails, cranes, conveyors, automobile brakes etc).
hence the application of this project are wide ranging.
Objective
TO Simulate Friction heating in FEA for a standard test bed sample
and to repeat the analysis for a slide rail .
