Person with whom you shared: Omar Montalvo

Accompanied by: Omar Montalvo, Leader of Youth in our Hispanic Church

Opportunity a result of: Evangelism in parking lots.

INTERACTION
What did you learn about this person?
Rodrigo is a person from Honduras and he is a construction worker. He has been living in
Gretna for five months. Also he never went to a church while he was in USA. His family
is in Honduras and he come to Louisiana for a better economic situation.
How did your transition into sharing the gospel?
I saw to Rodrigo was arriving from work and introduce myself in the parking lot. I told
him if he had some time to talk, and we discuss the opportunities of work we can find
here in America. God have a plan for our lives even far away from our homes.
Evangelism tool/ specific gospel presentation used:
We used the P.R.A.Y. method.

In your opinion, how clear was your explanation of the gospel message? Did you
leave out any of the elements of the Gospel?
It was a blessing we connected with him and he was open to hear the gospel. Every point
of the P.R.A.Y. method was presented in clear manner. All the elements of the gospel
were presented. Also Rodrigo has influence of the Gospel and would like to receive more
visits to keep learning more from God.
What key issues and/or questions surfaced during your conversation?
He used to go to a church in Honduras and knew some of the points I was sharing, He
shared with me that he would like to be more close to God and I explained which steps he
would do like read his bible, pray and repent of his sin.
Were there any hindrances to your conversation?
I guest that one of the hindrances was the weather, because it was so could and produced
some distractions during the conversation. Another hindrance was some tired, because he
just arrived from work and I could see that he was doing an effort to keep concentrate in
the conversation

How did your address these hindrances?

I knew I wouldnt have much time and we took advantage of that time talking about
Christ. At the same time I made some jokes with my examples, so he could stay
concentrated.
Did you call for response? Why or why not? If you did, how did they respond?
We called for a response. We saw him arriving from work and we invited him to make
decision for Christ but he told us that need more time to understand the Gospel and would
like to receive more knowledge of Christ and his work.

If the person did not respond positively, what do you think is preventing him/her
from receiving Christ?
He reason that he did not respond positively was his short understanding of God.
However, he we will be visiting him during these weeks.
What plans did you make to talk again?
We told him to come our worship service and celebrated with a Hispanic congregation
where we sing and teach the Bible in our first language, but he said that he works on
Sundays and invited us to visit him every Saturday at night to keep talking about Christ.
EVALUATION
What did you do well?
I think that we did well because we present the Gospel biblically and we used good
examples to make the communication more clear. That was efficient and the word of God
connected Rodrigo and understands that he needs God.
What would you do differently next time?
I guest that it is better if we present the Gospel in close places. Rodrigo and us were very
cold. We will have better opportunities with Rodrigo going to his place.
What did this experience teach you about disciple-making?
I learned that God want to reach lost people and God want to use his children. We have to
win people for Christ. The Great Commission must be accomplished by all the believers
in any and everywhere, even in parking lots.

EVANGELISM REFLECTION # 4

DATE: November 23, 2012

CONTEXT:

Person with whom you shared: Carlos Fonseca

Accompanied by: Edwin Ramos and Roger Pena, member of the Evangelism
Team

Opportunity a result of: Visitation evangelism

INTERACTION
What did you learn about this person?
The presentation of the Gospel was made by the group. Mr. Carlos is from Guatemala
and he has a family his wife and his four children. They used to live in New Orleans but
they are in Mandeville since last year. Carlos is a construction worker and his work is not
sure because he is an independence worker.
How did your transition into sharing the gospel?
Carlos was very friendly with us. He invited us to be inside his house and offered us to
drink coffee. He told us he believed in God but when we asked him if he was sure if
anything happened if he was going to be with God and he sais no. Then we presented the
Gospel of a manner clear.
Evangelism tool/ specific gospel presentation used:
I used the tract: God Wants You to Know 4 Things and A Person May Go to Heaven.
The Points of the First one are: 1) I am a sinner, 2) Jesus has provided the way of
Salvation, 3) Repent of Your Sins, 4) Acceptance or refusal determines your destiny.

In your opinion, how clear was your explanation of the gospel message? Did you
leave out any of the elements of the Gospel?
The point of the tracts was presented clearly. The tract helps Carlos to understand his
spiritual situation and his spiritual need of God.
What key issues and/or questions surfaced during your conversation?
Carlos seemed and sounded like he needed the Lord because he knew how God had had
blessed him and his family. He referred God as the only God and Jesus as our Savior but
Carlos doesnt have a relationship with God and he did not feel secure of his salvation
and he asked the motive of God and his Love. That was a great moment to explain of plan
of salvation.

Were there any hindrances to your conversation?

No there were to hindrances. We had enough time to response the Gospel.

How did your address these hindrances?

NA
Did you call for response? Why or why not? If you did, how did they respond?
I call for a response. He understand perfectly When we made the invitation he prayed
with us to receive the Lord as his Lord and Savior. We have a New Testament and a flyer
of our activities of the church.

If the person did not respond positively, what do you think is preventing him/her
from receiving Christ?

What plans did you make to talk again?

I asked Carlos for his phone number and he gave us this phone number. I told our
information and activities of our Hispanic congregation. Actually, he still come our
church.
EVALUATION
What did you do well?
That was a good time because Carlos was open to hear and make decision for Christ. We
explained clearly the Gospel and the result was a new believer.
What would you do differently next time?
I hope every presentation is like this one with Carlos, it ran smoothly it was a gift from
God.
What did this experience teach you about disciple-making?
I believe that there are many people who need to hear the Gospel no matter if the reject
Jesus but they need to hear us. We need to be faithful at delivering the message and at be
servants so that the Lord is glorified through of the predication of the Gospel.

VERBATIME 1
This personal evangelism was after our Sunday school and I talked with Pedro who is a
teenager and it was his second time coming in our church. His parents are new believers
but Pedro need to know the Gospel and that was a great opportunity to explain the
Gospel. The tool that I used was the evangelism cube.
Verbatim:
L: Leader
P: Pedro
L. How are you Pedro?
P. I am fine, thanks.
L. Did you like the Sunday School?
P. Yes sir, this very nice and there a lot young people.
L. Do you have new friends?
P. Yes, I have three new friends.
L. Let me explain how you can have a relationship with God. Do you have 5 minutes?
Remember the worship service will start in 10 minutes.
P. OK.
L. This is a cube and this have different graphic and this explain the love of God.
P. I like the graphics and the colors.
L. This graphic one shows that you and I are sinners and we are separated from God. The
Bibles in Romans 3:23 say, For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. The
light represent God who is holy and he is perfect and without sin. But God love us and
He doesnt want us perish but our sings must be removed in order to have eternal life
with God.
The graphic two is the evidence of the love of God is Jesus who was sent by the Father
on the earth as a man. God made Jesus die on a cross to pay for our sins with His blood.
He took our fault and sins in His Body on the cross that we could come to God. IN John

3:16 says For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
The graphic three shows that Jesus how men buried Jesus in a tomb and they rolled a
huge stone in front of it while the soldiers guarded the tomb.
P. I did not know understand it.
L. Let me explain everything what the Bible say us but in this cube. The graphic four
explains that God sent an angel to roll away the soldiers and God raised Jesus from the
dead. Jesus has paid the price for our sin, and Jesus has conquered death for our.
The graphic five Jesus said in the Bible, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one
comes to the Father except for Me. Just through Jesus, we can be forgiven of all our sins
and all our rebellions. We should respond and put our faith in Jesus to trust in Him to
save us from sin. If you do not take choose of trusting in Jesus, then your sins are not
removed and you keep separate from God.
The last graphic show that there are two ways one is heaven another is the hell. The Bible
says that whoever believes in Jesus has eternal life and it not judged but whoever does
not believe or reject to Jesus has been judge already and the wrath of God remains upon
him. Pedro, you must make a decision. Trust in Jesus Christ to be forgiven and have
eternal life if you reject Jesus Christ and suffer eternal punishment in fire.
P. How can I do it?
L. You have to recognize that you are a sinner, you have to leave your sin and you need to
believe that Jesus died for you and invited to Jesus in your life. Finally, In Romans 10:13
say For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved. Do you want to accept
to Jesus as Lord and Savior? Let me help you how you can do it and can pray for you. Do
you want to?
P. Yes
L. Pray with me and repeats this words: Dear Jesus, thank you for loving me and I
understand your love because Jesus die for mi. I ask you to forgive me of my sins. I am
willing to turn my life over to you. I am willing to live for you. I ask you to be my Savior
and Lord. Amen
