discuss things before camp starts:

Camp Rules
1) Please speak in English: Use English as much as possible when talking to your friends, or
to the teachers.
2) Do not use your cellphones: Please turn your cellphone off when you are at camp, and
place it in the basket. Only use your phone when the teacher says its okay for an activity.
3) Do not use Korean websites: When you have to use the computer, do not use Naver or
Daum. Instead, we want you to use www.google.ca (in English) and www.wikipedia.org
when you need to search for information. You cannot type in Hangeul, only English!
4) You will get stickers: When you do something good, like answer a question or give a great
presentation, you win stickers for your team. The stickers will go on your teams banner. The
team with the most stickers will win special prizes at the end!
5) Please share: Share your crayons, scissors and other things with the other teams.
6) Help each other: Help the students in your team with their English. If you help a lot, a
teacher will give you a sticker!
7) No swearing or fighting: Do not swear in English or Korean. Also, do not fight with the
other students.
8) Come to school on time: The English Zone will be open and cool. Sit down and put on your
name badge. If you are going to be late, please send a message to a teacher!

This is the time table for this winter camp. Read it every morning, so you know what the activities
are.
Camp starts at 9:30, so be at school, in the English Zone, around 9:15! If youre going to be late,
please contact a teacher or someone in your team.
Every day, a different team will have to clean. If its your teams turn, please dont go home until
all the cleaning is finished.
When you come into the room, please put on
your name badge.

Monday January 5
Welcome to Day One! Like usual, we will start the day with an introduction. Listen carefully, so
you can understand what is going on, and what the teachers expect from you.
In this camp, there are five teams of five students. Each team has its own Nintendo franchise. If
you work together in your teams and help each other, you will be rewarded with stickers. At the
end of the camp, the team with the most stickers will get prizes.
You are going to collect your stickers on a team poster. Think together and plan your teams
design. If you need some help you can search online, using the English Zones computers.
When your team is finished, you will give a short presentation of your poster.

After a quick break, we will play a quiz game. This game will test your skills and knowledge of
your teams Nintendo franchise.
This will give you a chance to get many sticker points for your team!

Do you know the game Mario Kart? Your team is going to design your own Mario Kart track. You
will need to plan the shape of the track, and any traps and power-ups you want to use.
When your team is finished, you will present your final design.

Finally, write a diary of the days activities. Tell the teachers what you enjoyed doing the most
today.
Zackary will take your books, correct any mistakes, and then return your
books tomorrow morning.

Tuesday January 6
Welcome to Day Two! I hope you are feeling hungry today, because you are going to decorate a
cake.
Nintendo games are famous for their bright colours, so try to decorate your cake as vibrantly as
possible. You can win some extra points if you can incorporate your teams franchise in the cake
design.
For this exercise, you will go to the cooking classroom on the first floor. Remember: when we are
finished, you must help clean the classroom.
When the cakes are finished, the teachers will judge the cakes designs and award points.

On Thursday, your team will have to give a big presentation. Today, your team will start planning
for it.
Each team will make an Olympics bid to host the Nintendo Olympics on their world. You have to
explain to the committee why your world is the best for the Olympics. You must describe what
benefits your world can bring to the Olympics.
Your team must also make a short PPT. This PPT will give more detailed information than what
you have on your presentation poster. During the presentation, every student must speak at least
once.
So today, brainstorm, and decide which student speaks on what topic. Also, start making your
presentation poster.

Wednesday January 8
Welcome to the midway point of the camp. Today you will do a lot of running around. You will be
given dozens of missions to do. In some of these missions you will need to use your phones
camera, so make sure your battery is fully charged!
You are also going to be running outside, so please wear comfortable clothing.
Work hard, because you can win a lot of points doing these missions.
To cool down, and relax, you are going to work on your presentation. Because we are going
skating on Friday, your presentation will be on Thursday. Try to finish as much as possible today
so it is ready for tomorrow. Design any props and costumes you will need.

Next, we are going to play a board game. This is a good chance to win some more stickers. All
the different teams will compete against each other. Try your best and cheer on your team
members!

Dont forget to write your daily diary before going home! Also, make sure your PPT is ready for
tomorrows presentation.

Thursday January 8
Before we do the presentations, we are going to have another challenge! Your teams are going to
play some Mario Kart 8. However, your drivers are going to be blindfolded (that means they cant
see where they are going). As one student drives, the other team members will tell them where to
go (speaking in English, of course).
The teams that finish the track fastest get the points. Two teams will play together. The last round
will be between the two teams who finish the quickest.
Only one student in your team can drive the kart, but they can give the controller to another
student at any time they want.

When its not your teams turn to play Mario Kart, you can work on your presentation. Make sure
everything is perfect. The teams with the best presentation will be able to get a lot of stickers.
Practice your speeches, and your PPT timings. Make sure any props and costumes are ready
Now its presentation time! Give it your best!

You will get points for doing a good job, and answering questions afterwards.

Friday January 9
Congratulations! You made it to the final day of the camp! Today we are going skating. After all
the junk food we have eaten for lunch these days, your body needs this exercise.
You should probably bring extra socks so you dont get blisters. A water bottle is also a good idea,
because skating for a long time will make you thirsty.
If you dont know how to skate, thats okay. A teacher can help you learn the basics. When you
are ready, we will play some point games together. This will be your last chance to win some
sticker points!
When the games are finished, we will count all the points. The team with the most points will win
the prizes.
Once the award ceremony is finished, you can go home. Enjoy your vacation and see you in
February!
