Inspections prior to running

The purifier should be operated under optimum conditions to suit the

nature of the treated oil. Applicable flow rate, pressure and temperature are
subject to given limits depending on the type and specification of the
purifier. If it is operated under such conditions that exceed these limits, the
safe operation may not be achieved.
Pipe connections
Make sure that the oil pipes, operating water pipes, and air pipes are
correctly laid and that the joints are firmly tightened. Check if the operating
water pipes for opening/closing bowl are not connected the wrong way, i.e.
one for the other.
Flushing
If feed operation is conducted under the bad flushing condition
pipping, the following troubles will happen, so the flushing must be fully
conducted in advance. Further, confirm wheter or not strainer with wire
screen of 60~100 mesh is provided in front of gear pump.
1) Damage in gear pump.
2) Frequent damages in safty joint.
3) Damage in valve cylinder sealing surface, main sealing etc.
4) Damage in sealing surface and sliding part of valves.
Confirmation of operating water preasure
Confirm wheter the prescribed water preasure has been maintained.

Obs.: Upon completion of opening, cleaning, inspection and assembly

of Oil Purifier Unit and when the operation is resumed after long-term
suspension, synthetic operation shall be performed for the purpose of
confirmation.

Confirmation before operation

Before operation, the following matters shall be confirmed without
fail:
1) Bowl has been completely assembled. Tally marks on bowl nut
and bowl hood are in line.
2) By operating a high pressure cock and low pressure operating
valve, confirm wheter operating water is flowing out from
operating water supply equipment.
3) Confirm wheter cap nut has been fixed on vertical shaft.
4) Remove gear cover and by rotating spiral gear by hand confirm
that bowl rotates smoothly.
5) Bowl can be easily rotated mannualy. ( The direction of rotation
shall be clockwise when observed from back of motor or
counterclockwise when observed from upper side.)
6) Trap locking handles have been tightly fastened.
7) Brake has been released.
8) Confirm with oil gauge if the prescribed amount of lubricating oil
is supplied in gear case.
9) Confirm that all valves and cocks are properly opened or closed.
10) Low preasure operating water tank is filled with sufficient water.
High preassure operating water is maintained at prescribed water
preassure.
11) Confirm the direction of rotation by wiring motor.

Vibration

Start-up time

Vibration may temporarily occur just after start-up, however,

this is not an anomaly. It will be reduced when the rated
number of revolution is achieved. At the rated number of
revolution if the vibration is large , immediately stop the
operation and inspect the purifier and identify the cause.
Usually the rated number of revolution is achieved in 3 to 7
minutes. (The current value falls within 50 to 70% of the
rating.) If the rated number of revolution is not achieved even
after a lapse of 8 minutes, immediately stop the operation and
check the friction block section.

Open the sludge discharge valve
Open all the necessary F.O. line valves
Start F.O. feed pump
Gradually open the steam inlet and outlet valves of F.O.
heater and set the temperature controller to 60 C
Drain water from heater and steam line

After the revolution settles, check the electric current or if
there is any abnormality
When all is clear from any abnormality, push the start button
at the control panle and automatically it will perform the
necessary operation
Set the temperature controller to 95 C ~ 98 C
Check the sludge discharge side and water flow relay alarm
box if there is no abnormality
Adjust the flow rate by manipulating the bypass valve
Carry out general check up after the completion of starting
operation procedure; stop the machine immediately if any
abnormality has been found.

2. Open the water valves and check the operation water tank
3. Start F.O. feed pump
4. Open the sludge discharge valve
5. Open all the necessary D.O. line valves

1. Start the F.O. purifier and check the motor condition, abnormal sound,
vibration etc.
2. After the revolution settles, check the electric current or if there is any
abnormality

sound, vibration etc.
2. After the revolution settles, check the electric current or if there is any
abnormality
3. When all is clear from any abnormality, push the start button at the
control panel and automatically it will perform the necessary

4. Set the temperature controller to 95 C ~ 98 C
5. Check the sludge discharge side and water flow relay alarm box if

6. Gradually open the steam inlet and outlet valves of L.O. heater and set
the temperature controller to 60 C

Starting operation
1.Start the D/G L.O. purifier and check the motor condition, abnormal
sound, vibration etc.
2. After the revolution settles, check the electric current or if there is any
abnormality
3. When all is clear from any abnormality, push the start button at the
control panel and automatically it will perform the necessary
operation
4. Set the temperature controller to 85 C ~ 95 C
5. Check the sludge discharge side and water flow relay alarm box if
there is no abnormality
6. Adjust the flow rate by manipulating the bypass valve
7. Carry out general check up after the completion of starting operation
procedure; stop the machine immediately if any abnormality has been
found.
