Religion

I Believe in One Holy Apostolic Church

Grade 8s are continuing to explore the parts of the Apostles Creed. As students are developing their
own personal creed throughout the year they have been reflecting on their call to faith as they pray
this prayer. Currently they are exploring the question, Why Bother With Church? Incorporating
their findings from their Communion of Saints Interview they have found that many of their
family traditions are centered on their Christian faith. By examining the lives of saints, the diverse
nature of the Catholic Church (exploring the Eastern and Orthodox Rites), they are discovering that
like them the church is diverse, seeks to encourage a life of virtue and is open to all who share its
values and traditions. Their current assignment, creating a brochure noting differences between the
North American Catholic Church and three Eastern Rites of the Catholic Church is due February 5,
2015. In February we will be beginning our Fully Alive Units. I will be sending a letter home with
students explaining our grade eight program. If you have questions please call or e-mail.
