Learning Activities
A. Preparatory Activities
1. Review
Before we proceed to our lesson for today, let us recall the
basic concepts in geometry. Thats why, I brought here a hi-

tech PSP. This PSP wont teach us how to play games. Rather,
it will help us recall the concepts which we had learned from
our previous topic.
Ill be flashing cards and you will identify the figure. Then,
briefly state the definition of the figure. If you want to answer,
just raise your right hand quietly.
Sample Cards:
Point location in space. It has no length,
width or height. It is named with a capital
letter.

Line series of points that extends in both

directions without end. It can be named by
two capital letters or a lower case letter.
Line Segment a part of a line. It has two
endpoints. It can be named by two capital
letters.

Plane a flat surface. It is made up of

continuous collection of points.

2. Motivation

I have here an I-phone. Ill be flashing pictures before you.

Pay close attention to the pictures. Can you name them? What
have you noticed between these pictures? What polygon can
you associate with these pictures?
B. Developmental Activities
1. Introduction of Centers

This time, we are going to study and understand about the

classifications of triangles. We have six (6) centers to provide
us with knowledge on the classifications of triangles. They are
labelled with numbers from 1 to 6.
2. Orientation of the Centers
Later on, with my signal, you will examine and study the
six centers. Each of you should have your observation in
every center.
3. Working in the Centers
Now, Ill group you into 6 groups. Your group will be your
companion in working in the centers. The centers are loaded
with materials and information about the classification of
triangles. Each group should choose their leader and their
recorder. Ill be giving you a worksheet to work into. You need
to fill up each cell of the table based on what is asked. You are
given 90 seconds to work in each center. After the time
allotted, you will proceed to the next station specified on your
worksheet.
3.a. Recalling of Standards in Performing Group
Activities
a. We follow the instructions carefully.
b. We cooperate with each other in performing task.
c. We keep our voice low while conversing.
d. We raise our right hand when we need to clarify
something.

your answer on the space provided for.
1. Isosceles triangle has at least two sides equal.
__________
2. If the sides of triangle measure 5 cm, 8 cm and 10 cm,
respectively, then, it is an equilateral triangle.

Center 1

Acute Triangle
All the angles of acute triangle are acute. This means that the
measure of each angle of the triangle is between 0 and 90. For
example, a triangle whose interior angles measure 30, 80 and 70,
respectively, is classified as acute triangle.

Right Triangle
A triangle is considered right if one of its angles is a right angle.
This means that the measure of one of its angles is exactly 90.
Sometimes, the exact measure of 90 is not labelled in a triangle.
Instead, a reversed L sign is marked on the right angle. For example, a
triangle whose angles measure 40, 90 and 50, respectively, is a
right triangle.

Center 3

Obtuse Triangle
If one of the angles of a triangle is obtuse, then, the triangle is
classified as obtuse. This means that the measure of one of its angles
is between 90 and 180. For example, a triangle whose interior angles
measure 40, 110 and 30, respectively, is classified as obtuse
triangle.

Center 4

Scalene Triangle
In a scalene triangle, no sides are equal. Also, the measurement
of its angles are not equal. This means that the lengths of all its sides
are different. Moreover, the measures of its angles are different. For
example, a triangle whose sides measure 3 units, 7 units and 8 units,
respectively, is classified as scalene. The same is true with triangle
whose interior angles measure 40, 110 and 30, respectively.
Center 5

Isosceles Triangle
In an isosceles triangle, two of its sides are equal. Also, the
measurement of its angles opposite the equal sides are also equal. For
example, a triangle whose sides measure 3 inches, 5 inches and 5
inches, respectively, is classified as isosceles.

Center 6

Equilateral Triangle
In an equilateral triangle, all sides are equal. Also, the
measurement of its angles are equal. Since the total measure of the
interior angles of a triangle is 180, this means that each angle of an
equilateral triangle measures 60. For example, a triangle whose sides
measure 10 cm, 10 cm and 10 cm, respectively, is classified as
equilateral. Moreover, equilateral triangle is also considered as
equiangular triangle because all its angles are equal.
