( interviewer is looking for honest answers with a bit of sophistication

.)

This question comes because you are trying to shift from a technical domain to a managerial domain.
Though most people have either one of these reasons

"Shift of domain" or
"Packages that are offered"

This answer isn't convincing enough for the interview panel. Engineers in India are clueless about their careers till they graduate
and when they decide to opt for MBA, not all of them have a clear perspective in mind.

responsibilities and roles. My current qualifications are limiting my possibilities. A post-graduate course in MBA can help expand my
career horizon and propel me forward. I do understand that not all skills can be acquired through the course and that work
experience is a necessity.

from my present career a smooth one. I understand that I would require many other skills and experience alongside. (Explain for
how long you were planning this career transition, what all preparations you have done for this objective and why you think that
you are suitable for it. )
If possible, elaborate on the answer in such a manner that it helps you to diminish your weaknesses and emphasizes your
strengths. Then the interviewer can be lead away to your domain of expertise.
There are various factors behind this,-- Job prospects after MBA, Market value and also the increasing globalisation step forward
Engineering skills to club up with Management skills. Some Core and Engineering related companies require person with strong
Engineering as well as Managerial skills to run the business efficiently. It the need of Market and increasing Globalisation and Boom
in Technological aspects of life. Day to day Technology exchange is also playing its crucial part in this whole system.
MBA students with a technical background have an edge over the other students, as they have the power of logic and reasoning, .
Also, MBA increases your field of work. After BTech one is limited only to the technical background, whereas after doing MBA, one
can even enter the management field.
Nowadays, due to intense competition, many companies are on the lookout for engineers who have the management skills that is
attained by a management course.
Being a Computer Science engineer, I understood that most of the work I did was to automate business processes. However, to
understand the business process itself and to impact the product at a far more earlier stage, I needed to understand how the
business works and how to appreciate different business workflows. I realized that a bschool education will help me understand this
.
Having worked as a software engineer at a consulting MNC, I have seen that key to business operations of various firms is the
management of technology. A well rounded MBA program from ISB would help me to get an insight of the operations of a firm. So,
after engineering I want to try for something else and shift domain.
My enthusiasm is not over. I want to learn management skills and try to do something .
I am now Interested in pursuing a career in a managerial role in a company and looking for a career change. MBA will help in making the job
transition easier.

The two years of work have enhanced my perspective on exactly how the IT industry works and what are the major
challenges that one would face vis a vis requirement analysis, scheduling , project tracking etc working as a consultant,
I saw how my manager reacted to these challenges and everyday activities as well as obviously having my own ideas
on the roadblocks and impediments in our work and how I would make the entire process better. Taking this forward I
would better interact within my MBA lectures in group discussions in having a concrete viewpoint. Whether you look
forward to strengthening your ground in the area of entrepreneurship or have your goal well focused on escalating the
corporate rung, it is important that you go for an MBA degree.

MBA degree will help me to get an insight into the tricks & acumen necessary for competent handling of business and
segments constituting it.

an MBA program relevant to my field of operation will help sharpen my managerial skills & soft skills necessary for man
management.

Doing an MBA after engineering will also improve my career prospects.

I would like to do MBA because I feel that in the corporate world, managerial skills are highly valued. So, as I am in this zone of learning
things, I would like to do the program now.
..Engineering taught me about technical things, but more than that, what i got to learn from engineering is "How to learn"....when i
m changing my domain into managerial side....i m not saying that i will stop learning technical side....but engineering gave my
mind a platform to on which i can learn things in a better practical way....now i dont want my learning to be limited to technical
side....i want to learn managerial side too..
I feel that studies are useful only if you know how to use it in real world.......so learning this technique in my engineering be surely
helpful in my management studies and use management studies in real world..... The rapid changes in technology and increasingly
global markets have resulted in organizations trying to optimize their productivity and competitiveness by giving importance to the
management and organisational aspects of the company. Thus there is an increasing need for MBA graduates majoring in
Marketing, Finance, Management, or other disciplines.
In India when we are of 18yrs, we do not really understand what we really want to be. We were influenced by others. After 3-4 yrs
we get to know what would be expected out of us. After completed this professional course we find in the end Management is more
fascinating. B.tech has enhanced my logical and analytical abilities which helps me in solving typical problems quickly while MBA
will help me to expand my career. Also we get much more salary than a technical employee.
