A. HISTORY
Started as a one-unit showroom in 1991, HCMI has now grown into five strategically located
branches in the metropolis, with an innovative service center right in the heart of the Makati
CBD. Honda Cars Cebu, Inc. (HCCI), a wholly owned subsidiary of HCMI, has also established
five fully operational dealerships in the Visayas-Mindanao region.
1991
Honda Cars Makati, the first Honda dealership of Honda Cars Makati, Inc. (HCMI), started as a
one-unit showroom at Bicutan, Paraaque.
1992
HCMI moved to its new dealership office at Magallanes, Makati - the 1st Honda car dealership
in the country.
1994
Honda Cars Cebu, Inc. (HCCI) was founded.
Honda Cars Pasig was established.
HCM Insurance Agency, Inc., a subsidiary of HCMI, was founded.
Honda Cars Pasig won the championship title in Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI)'s 1st
National Technician Contest.
1995
Honda Cars Iloilo was established.

Honda Cars Makati bagged the TOPS (The Outstanding Professional in Sales) Award Automotive Category.
Honda Cars Makati won the championship title in the 2nd Honda National Technician Contest.
Honda Cars Pasig was also awarded second runner-up in the same contest.

1996
Honda Cars Alabang was established.
Honda Cars Cagayan de Oro was established.
Honda assumed leadership in the passenger car market.
Honda Cars Makati bagged the TOPS (The Outstanding Professional in Sales) Award Automotive Category.
Honda Cars Pasig and Honda Cars Makati placed first and second runners-up in the 3rd Honda
National Technician Contest.
1997
Honda Cars Negros Occidental was established.
Honda remains No.1 in passenger car sales.
Honda Cars Alabang won the championship title in the 4th Honda National Technician's Contest.
Honda Cars Pasig was also awarded second runner-up in the same contest.
1998
Honda Cars Shaw was established.
HCMI received the Best Quality Silver Award from Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (Japan).
Honda Cars Alabang and Honda Cars Pasig won the championship and first runner-up
awards in the 5th National Technician Contest.
Honda Cars Alabang placed first runner-up in the 5th Asia-Oceania Technician Contest held in
Thailand.

HCM Insurance Agency, Inc. was turned over to MZM Holdings and was renamed MZM
Insurance Agency, Inc.
2007
HCMI became the first Honda dealership group to be awarded with the Consumer Welfare Desk
(CWD) certification by the Department of Trade and Industry.
Honda Cars Global City was inaugurated on July 20.

HCMIs recruitment practice varies in two different ways. In this company, they use internal
recruitment and external also to assess the current available pool of job candidates, other than
existing staff, to ascertain if any are sufficiently skilled or qualified to fill and perform existing job
vacancies of HCMI. In some positions, HCMI engages in external recruitment, an agency is
used to facilitate the search, contact and recruitment process.
But still, HCMIs human resource has built a tradition which emphasize quality service, high
work standards, team oriented structures, competitive compensation package and in-house
training programs and services.

D. BENEFITS PROVIDED
Upon permanency, associates are entitled to enjoy the following benefits:
Hospitalization
Coverage includes outpatient consultations, in-patient hospitalization and emergency cases in
clinics/hospitals accredited by the Companys designated health care provider. This benefit is
extended to the associates eligible immediate family member.

An associate who fails to complete one year of service from date of uniform issuance is

E. Career path of employees


Promotion
HCMI is an organization that offers boundless opportunities for career advancement, personal

As far as promotion is concerned, HCMI promotes and employee based on the performance
evaluation made by a certain immediate head. Process are made by the HR and a
corresponding head.

2. In your opinion, what differences in HRM practices did they manifest to make you say one is
a better company than the other?
Answer:

For me, both organization (Linde Group of Companies and Honda Cars Makati, Inc.)
Are very impressive towards the management and how they run a business and attract
employees. Furthermore, researching and comparing about the two companies, I could always
see the advantage of an international company against the Local Company which is the HCMI.
The HR practices of the international company I have researched about (which is Linde Group)
has a very large gap between the Local company (HCMI). Since it is an international company,
it signifies that this company is very luxurious and has a strong practice especially in their
employees who are very exclusive in terms of recruitments and trainings. As I experienced in
HCMI, they do not tend to focus on trainings but rather get employees who are highly skilled.
But there are still trainings conducted internally in HCMI though not unlike in Linde Group, It is a
very crucial part of their organization in their employees to have this training. It is a must for
them since the values and cultures of the company has to be adapted to be able to align their
people in the company.
Benefits can also be compared on specifically on the benefits covered on each employee to the
Company. Since an international company has engraved the peoples mind that this would be
better compared only to a local, the Linde Group would think highly of their organization and will
always execute and strive to always be the best and to remain the reputation among the people
especially to the candidates or for their future applicants. Though in HCMI, they are competitive
to their local competition or even international.
Also the difference of the two companies have a huge gap in terms of business, since the Linde
Group is a Gasoline company and HCMI is an automotive company. Therefore in Linde we
could always see a very professional employee which will make a plus in the companys image.
Since most of the employees working there are Licensed Engineers, scientist etc.
