Welcome
Thank y ou f or choosing the Kenwood products. By utilizing this sof tware, y ou can enjoy the v ersatility of the TM-V71A/E,
TM-D710A/E transceiv ers, and the RC-D710 control panel through the memory channel management or edit f unctions.
About this software
You can use the MCP-2A to create data such as memory channels and menus on a PC by connecting the
TM-V71A/E, TM-D710A/E, and the RC-D710 to the PC.
An optional Programming Cable (PG-5G, or PG-5H Serial communications cable) is necessary.
The MCP-2A can import the TPE / CSV f ormat f iles which are exported by using the Trav elPlus For Repeaters
program av ailable f rom ARRL.
The MCP-2A can retriev e memory channel f requencies by opening ([File]
the f ollowing Kenwood Memory Control Programs. Click to see the details.

Operating Environments
1. Operating Sy stem (OS)

Windows XP (Serv ice Pack 3 or later) (32-bit)

Windows Vista (Serv ice Pack 2 or later)(32-bit or 64-bit)

Windows 7 (RTM or later) (32-bit or 64-bit)

Note:
This sof tware is designed to run on the abov e operating sy stems.
Applicable operating sy stems are subject to change without notice due to the end of the technical support by
Microsof t Corporation or change of the product specif ications.

For Windows XP, the .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) which is av ailable f or download f rom

Microsof t download center must also be installed. (Windows Vista or Windows 7 users do not need to install the
.NET Framework.).
2. Processor
At least the recommended CPU f or each OS is required to run this program.
3. Sy stem Memory (RAM)
At least the recommended sy stem memory f or each OS is required to run this program.
4. Hard Disk Free Space
To install this sof tware, 30 MB or more of hard disk space is required.
5. Peripheral Dev ices
A display with at least XGA (1024 x 768), 16-bit color or higher is recommended.
A key board and pointing dev ice (such as a mouse) are required.
An RS-232C port is required.(Corresponding to COM1 to COM20)
Attention
Bef ore starting to edit the data in the MCP-2A, y ou must f irst "Read" data f rom the transceiv er. (The MCP-2A must
recognise the exact model ty pe of the transceiv er.) Writing data to the transceiv er without reading the transceiv er's
exact model ty pe, may result an error.
When y ou exchange the channel data between dif f erent model ty pes such as "TM-V71A and TM-V71E" or "TM-D710A
and TM-D710E", please use the MCP-2A's Import / Export f unction.(Please ref er to the MCP-2A's help f ile f or detail)
Turn the transceiv er OFF bef ore connecting it to a PC.
When the transceiv er's EchoLink Sy sop mode is ON, it cannot communicate with the MCP-2A.
Notes on usage

Users are required to obtain a license f rom JVC KENWOOD Corporation, in writing, prior to redistributing this sof tware
on a personal web page or packet radio.
Users may not assign, rent, lease, or resell the sof tware.
Users may not rev ise, change, translate, merge, de-compile, or rev erse engineer the sof tware.
The quality and perf ormance of the sof tware is not warranted f or the applicability of any users. JVC KENWOOD
Corporation shall not assume liability f or any def ects, nor warrant any thing other than is expressly prov ided in the
agreement. The selection and introduction of the products as well as the results there f rom shall be upon the liability
of the users.
JVC KENWOOD Corporation shall own all copy rights and other intellectual properties f or the sof tware and all manuals
and documents attached to the sof tware. The user shall be allowed to use, not to resell, the sof tware by obtaining a
license f rom JVC KENWOOD Corporation. While the media in which the sof tware is stored is possessed by the user,
the ownership f or the sof tware itself shall be reserv ed f or JVC KENWOOD Corporation.
Installing the MCP-2A
Extract the downloaded f ile "M2A321.zip" into a designated f older.
In the designated f older, a f older labeled "M2A321" will be created.
Execute the "setup.exe" in the f older labeled "M2A321", and f ollow the instructions that appear on the display to install
MCP-2A.
Notes:
The MCP-2A does not operate properly when selecting other models; y ou must select the correct model.

The MCP-2A automatically creates a data f older as "...\My Documents\KENWOOD\MCP2A" (f or Windows XP) or

"...\Documents\KENWOOD\MCP2A" (f or Windows Vista , Windows 7).

You must be an authorized Administrator to install the MCP-2A.
To change the help f ile's language (English / Japanese) y ou must re-install the MCP-2A.
Uninstalling the MCP-2A
Open the Control Panel and select Add/ Remov e Programs, then f ollow the instructions, which appear, on the display.
Notes:
Created f iles using the MCP-2A are not deleted by uninstalling the sof tware; y ou must manually delete any f iles that
y ou created.
You must be an authorized Administration to uninstall the MCP-2A.

* This f unction works on the DATA band used f or EchoLink Sy sop mode operation.
* The receiv ed audio signal is output f rom the Data terminal's PR1 to a PC only when CTCSS or DCS matches.
* This f unction can only be set with the MCP-2A.
* This f unction is av ailable only f or the TM-V71A/E, TM-D710A/E transceiv ers hav ing f irmware v ersion 1.10 and later.
To conf irm the f irmware v ersion of the transceiv er, select "Model" and then "Product Inf ormation" in the MCP-2A
menu af ter connecting the transceiv er with a PC by using the PG-5G or PG-5H PC interf ace cable.
