The use of DO in sports


Do is used for a recreational
activity or a non-team sport that
does not use a ball:

We use like and dislike to express
preferences.
We can use in in two ways: LIKE +
ING / LIKE + TO

LIKES:

She likes singing.

He likes to draw.

I like eating burgers. You like to play the guitar

They like swiming

We like watching TV.

They like the beach.

She likes ice-cream.

LIKES
I love / adore / like
I am fond of
I am keen on
I am crazy about
I enjoy

BV + ING + NOUN

Examples :
I love swimming. I adore gymnastics.
Im fond of playing tennis.
Im crazy about football.

DISLIKES:
He doesnt like eating cereal

She doesnt like running

I dont like museums.

You dont like worms.

Examples :
I hate washing up.
I cant stand war films.
I detest cold weather.

BV + ING + NOUN

REMEMBER!
In British English , like + ing form is used mostly
to talk about enjoyment, and like + infinitive
mostly about choices and habits.
In American English like + infinitive is common
in both senses.
I like climbing mountains ( B)
I like to climb mountains (A)

Like can be followed by an object


I dont like people phoning me in the middle of the night.
She likes people to feel at home when they stay with her
