NEWSLETTER FOR ALL FRIENDS

of P. B.T.R.S.

No.

Summer - Fall

With great rejoicing we announce that MORE than 10 recruits are now in their training
for service in evangelism thru Bible translation. These are all associated with the
service of PBT-RS.

For some we have already sent newsletters to their sponsoring

churches or from those they seek assistance. We have also visited some of the churches
in behalf of one or two of these couples.

This is done at our own expense and of course

we want it this way so the recruits will understand we, of PBTRS, came to their aid to
GIVE not to receive.

So, that means we really count on you all who contribute to us

regularly.
WE ARE HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE that BILL BARTON of Bethalto Christian Church, in

Bethalto, Illinois, has joined the staff fulltime

1 should say, the Lord added him
to the staff! Bill is a graduate of Southern Illinois University, and is a graduate in
the field of Business Science and Administration.

It is a beautiful story how the Lord

led us together, but space will not permit all the details now. Bill is now at Ozark
Bible College recruiting, and we have been together at the State College Campus Min
istries and at Bible Colleges, having a great time in the Lord recruiting. In three col
leges 30 students have committed themselves to "Bible translation service either as
translators or as team members for the tribal work.

Praise the Lord!

If this average

keeps up we can flood the Summer Institute of Linguistics with some really fine Christ
ian young people in the next 12 months. Our goal in recruiting this next 12 months is
2 00 committed young people (and adults) to this ministry and at least 2 0 for this coming
summer at one of the Summer Institutes of Linguistics training centers.

Pray for this!

A special THANK YOU to Red Gundlach who financially undergirded this ministry this
summer!

We thank Rondal Smith, of Lincoln Christian College and Dave Filbeck, of

Puget Sound College of the Bible, for their help in getting us scheduled in their areas,
and for becoming advisors of this service. Our thanks to David Silven, Attorney at
Baker, Oregon, for getting the legal papers ready early this year. Since January, this
year, we have spoken to 8 colleges, 30 churches, and have several other meetings
Scheduled. 1 am out recruiting two weeks and home two weeks. Bill Barton, who is

single is able to be out much more. Janet Davis, our full-time secretary, is really
busy now with two of us to keep up with.

Jesse Yangmi, from Thailand, who is now teaching at Ozark Bible College, said "a
tribe of 80,000 to 100,000 in one area need Scripture".

This will be one target.

We

also must help the recruits, who are now in college, get information before their

churches. We have nurses, teachers, artists, linguistic students and handymen in

preparation to go. Why don't you take time to phone one of the team (couples) and en
courage them and tell them you are behind them. Also ask them questions about this
exciting ministry, it is all so new to most of us. We'll give you at least two phone

numbers so you can call the team in Dallas: David & Sharran Pryor, 214/298-2269;
Cecil & Betty Byrd, 214/298-7839.

Thanks for our association with you. This letter is Number 1, so you hayen t miss^
Love to you all.

Dear Christian Friends:

We have goodnews for you, of eternal significance. Your good friends and ours, David and
Sharran (O'Brien) Pryor, graduates of Johnson Bible College, have begun their intensive train

ing for BIBLE TRANSLATION work. He and his wife, Sharran, and their two lovely children
are now enrolled in the International Institute of Linguistics at Dallas, Texas, The Pryors re

signed their ministry of 4 years with the Falls Mills, Virginia, church in Late August in time
to meet the Fall enrollment deadline at Dallas.

We are writing you because you have know of the ministry of David and Sharran in some way
and you personally appreciate the life of Dave Pryor and his intense desire to give the GOOD
NEWS OF CHRIST to those who have never heard it before. The Pryors must not now be made

to leave their training and run all over the country to raise funds for their mission work.
They must stay in the one year training program in Dallas, while their friends rally to their
assistance. Let us share with you the potential of this ministry of Evangelism THRU BIBLE
TRANSLATION.

First: You can count on two hands the number of linguists in the Christian Church and Church
of Christ today, so the need is obvious.

Secondly: The Pryor's are well qualified academically and spiritually. The work of putting
the Gospel of Christ into written form for the first time, for a lost tribe of thousands
of people, is the most important task before the church today . . . PRIORITY.

Thirdly: Their potential, and thus yours as you help them, will be as many as 50,000 people.
That's how many they can reachin any one of several thousand tribes in southeast Asia,
Africa, or the Islands of the Pacific, whichever tribal and remote area they choose
during their training.

THEIR IMMEDIATE NEED AS YOU READ THIS LETTER IS $589.00 for David's school tuition,

and $425,00 for Sharran's school tuition. The Falls Mills, Va., church pays their first three

'months salary during this training time, but they have NOTHING to pay their tuition, and their
rent, and personal needs have gone UP since they are not living in a PARSONAGE. Please go

before your congregation on Sunday and ask for a show of hands of those who will give' a special
gift of $50,00 or more right now as a one time gift to help them stay at school. We have been
saying that the recruit must not need to run all over the country, for support here is the way
to stop unnecessary cost and expenditure of effort, LET US be good stewards of our time and
the Lord's. Here is David & Sharran Pryor's address and phone number : 811 Link #37,
Duncanville, Texas

75116, phone 214/298-2269. Don't keep 50,000 or more people waiting

any longer for the Word of God. Call Dave or Sharran and ask about their needs and their ministry
to the BIBLELESS PEOPLES, A phone call will answer any question you have!
Yours for Jesus Christ and unreached people.

Al Hamilton, Director of PBT - RS
