Position Title: Marketing/Social Media Intern

Location: Camp Lake of the Woods, 7310 Oakwood Dr. Kansas City, MO
Duration: Summer 2015, 8 weeks (June 15th August 8th)
Hours: 40 hours/wk preferred, Monday-Friday, Schedule & number of hours can be flexible
depending on intern needs
Responsibilities
The Camp Fire Heartland Intern will serve as a valued and integral part of the Heartland Team.
The CF Intern will support marketing and social media for Heartland summer camp programs.
Opportunities may include:

Participate in camp staff training the week prior to camp to be fully integrated with camp
staff and be aware of Camp Fire policies and procedures
Take daily photos of camp activities for marketing and parent communication purposes
Upload photos daily to Camp Fire Heartland photo sharing site and Facebook page
Assist Program Manager with the creation of a weekly parent satisfaction survey; assist
with analyzing the results
Create camp promotional videos and slideshows for parent communication and Camp Fire
marketing purposes
Be willing and able to substitute or float into a counselor role when additional supervision
of campers is needed
Follow camp rules, regulations, and policies
Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment, and facilities and the
environment
Maintain good public relations with campers parents, visitors, and the community
Assist with the seasonal opening and closing of camp
Help with camp maintenance and setup/cleanup of facilitates when necessary
Submit all required reports and paperwork on time, keeping accurate records on campers.
Assist the Camp Director with ensuring the summer camp program is following all ACA
guidelines
Assist in other camp tasks and duties as assigned by the Camp Director.

The intern will work primarily with the Heartland Team consisting of 2 Program Managers, and
several seasonal Heartland Camp Counselors. The Heartland Program Managers will serve as the
interns primary supervisor/advisor while interning at Camp Fire and will facilitate projects, roles
and duties for the intern during their time with Camp Fire.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Qualifications
An internship with Camp Fire is intended to provide a diverse learning experience for a high
school or college student that is interested in garnering non-profit experience and/or completing
requirements for their degree. General requirements for a CF intern are as follows:

Desire and ability to work with youth and adults in an outdoor camp environment
Desire to learn about the functions of a youth serving, non-profit organization
Interest or desire to practice photography skills

Ability to upload photos daily to Camp Fire Heartland photo sharing site and Facebook
page
Interest in learning about program evaluation and satisfaction surveying
Reliable transportation to be able to make it to/from Camp Lake of the Woods
Professional and friendly demeanor with the ability to interact well with a variety of people
Must be 16 years of age or older
Have (or be willing to receive) First Aid and CPR certification
Display adaptability in various situations, schedules, activities, and assignments
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Maintains a positive attitude in times of high stress
Ability to accept supervision and guidance
Good character, integrity, and adaptability
Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards
related to the activity

Compensation
This internship does qualify for NextGen funding through the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. This
means the intern would receive a $500 stipend from Camp Fire for successfully completing their
internship, in addition to $1500 provided to NLA to the intern.
